Participants in the program will receive a monthly stipend of Ksh6,000, which will be deposited into their Haba Haba savings accounts.

Starting next month, the government will launch employment opportunities targeting close to 900,000 young people under the National Youth Opportunities Towards Advancement (NYOTA) program. The initiative, supported by the World Bank, is structured around four key components.
A Cabinet Dispatch revealed that one of the components, the On-the-Job program, is currently accepting applications. It aims to place 90,000 youth in paid internships lasting between three to six months.

The NYOTA program, a collaboration between the Kenyan government and the World Bank, is designed with four key components. These include paid on-the-job training, support for entrepreneurship, and certification through the Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) framework.

Nearly one million young people are expected to benefit from the initiative.
"In line with the government’s plan to create employment and opportunities for the youth, the Cabinet endorsed the August 2025 launch of the National Youth Opportunities Towards Advancement (NYOTA) Project, a flagship government and World Bank initiative targeting over 820,000 vulnerable and unemployed youth, including persons with disabilities," the despatch read in part.
"The programme aims to enhance employability, skills recognition, and access to decent work, and is a key pillar of the Bottom-Up Economic Transformation Agenda. Structured into four components, NYOTA includes paid on-the-job training, entrepreneurship support, and Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) certification. Currently, over one million applications have been received."
"The ongoing call for the On-the-Job Experience programme targets 90,000 youth for three- to six-month paid placements with employers, with monthly stipends of KSh6,000 deposited into Haba Haba savings accounts. Applications are open from 11th July to 15th August 2025," added the despatch.
The National Youth Opportunities Towards Advancement (NYOTA) project was poised to transform the lives of 820,000 unemployed youth nationwide. This initiative is expected to involve 100,000 youth with business ideas who will receive financial support to help them set up their ventures.
NYOTA is expected to be a scale-up project of the Kenya Youth Employment and Opportunities Project (KYEOP) and will build on lessons learned in the implementation of the KYEOP project, whose objective is to increase employment and opportunities for earnings and savings for targeted youth in all 47 counties.
NYOTA is one of the employment initiatives introduced by President William Ruto’s administration, alongside the Climate WorX Mtaani program.
When launching Climate WorX in Nairobi in September last year, President Ruto highlighted its dual purpose: tackling environmental issues while creating jobs for the youth. To date, the program has employed 21,493 young people in Nairobi County alone.
