Communication strategist Pauline Njoroge, a blogger synonymous with the Azimio la Umoja-One Kenya alliance, on Sunday, May 14 opened up on the tough experience that saw her lose her unborn twins.

In a statement she penned on Facebook in commemoration of Mother's Day, Njoroge recalled that she was at one of the happiest moments in her life while siring the twins to the point that her friends even gave her a nickname.

"Not long ago I carried twins in my womb and they brought me the most fulfilling joy.

"Those few months made part of my life’s happiest days, and I was ever smiling. One of my close friends even nicknamed me Mama Happiness," she wrote.

However, her joyous moments would soon take a turn for the worse, with the miscarriage cutting short the happiness she had been having since her conception.

According to Njoroge, she was left devastated for several months beyond comfort and went through several teary episodes while trying to keep her act together in the public eye.

"Losing my unborn children crashed me…watching as they disappeared in a pool of blood caused me unexplainable pain. For several months I was an emotional mess and nothing could comfort me.

"I broke down a million times and tears became my daily food. Out here I kept a strong face because sometimes as women and leaders, we do not have the luxury of breaking down in public no matter what is happening internally," she went on.

Nonetheless, she expressed her gratitude for the strong support system she had in her life, which enabled her to get through the difficult period, as well as for God's grace.

Njoroge urged every mother to treasure the experience of bearing life and bringing it to the world as she concluded her bitter-sweet Mother's Day wish to all her followers who are mothers.

The strategist has maintained her ardent support for Azimio leader, Raila Odinga, despite being fired from the Tourism Regulatory Authority (TRA) on March 10, 2023, through a Gazette Notice by Cabinet Secretary for Tourism, Wildlife, and Heritage Peninah Malonza.

Former Tourism Cabinet Secretary Najib Balala in 2021 revoked her appointment as a member of the Board of Tourism Regulatory Authority after the appointment the previous year was met with controversy owing to her remarks on the Nairobi National Park.

She had served as a Digital Media Strategist for Azimio La Umoja One Kenya Coalition before the August 2022 General Election.

What Is Mother's Day?

Mother's Day is a celebration honouring the mother of the family or individual, as well as motherhood, maternal bonds, and the influence of mothers in society.

It is celebrated on different days in many parts of the world, most commonly in the months of March or May and marked on the second Sunday of May in countries such as Kenya.

It complements similar celebrations, honouring family members, such as Father's Day (marked every third Sunday of June), Siblings Day (recognized annually in some parts of the United States and Canada on April 10, and as Brothers and Sisters Day on May 31 in Europe), and Grandparents' Day (In 2021, Pope Francis declared World Day for Grandparents and the Elderly, to take place annually on the fourth Sunday of July).
