Mumias East Member of Parliament (MP) Peter Salasya has temporarily relinquished his duties to allow himself to recover from an ailment.

Salasya on Thursday, January 5 shared a video of himself seated on a hospital bed addressing his followers and asking them to pray for him, even though he did not disclose what was ailing him.

He was seen with an injection port in his hand which is part of the treatment he is undergoing at the hospital.

The legislator explained that he spent the festive season and the past two months in work mode throughout the days and nights, a matter which affected his sleeping patterns, and his health as a result.

“Pray for me, for the last two months I have not been sleeping. I have been working day and night.

“I have overworked and I need to take a rest. I am not feeling well, please pray for my quick recovery,” he said in the video.

The MP added that he has delegated his duties to the constituency manager for the two weeks as he focuses on getting better.

Salasya was a busy man during the festive season organising activities such as football matches for his locals and gifting others Christmas gifts on December 25, 2022, when Mumias residents flooded his home.

He also announced plans to organise a football match between security officials and residents, to enhance the relationship between police officers and locals.

"For the very first time in history, Mumias East constituency, the constituency I serve as the area MP we are going to have a football tournament that would bring together police officers, between the Administration Police and the regular police," Salasya said.

His meteoric rise to the top in 2022 since he was elected on August 9 has been nothing short of special. Many also associate him with his love for women, which began when he announced that he was looking for a wife.

One of the women, Ronad Lydia, had responded to Salasya's request for a wife by publicly proposing to him, but he instead offered her a job and pledged to help her set up her own business, in case she prefers that.

Salasya's daring pursuit of a suitable woman to marry, coupled with pressure from his colleagues and his electorate, has seen him even shift his eyes to female celebrities in Kenya.

On November 2, 2022, he announced that he was looking for TikTok content creator and influencer, Azziad Nasenya, claiming that she was responsible for the Vaida Luhya song by Harry Richie going viral across social media platforms countrywide.

The lawmaker praised Nasenya as an inspiration to the youth and invited her to be a brand ambassador for Kakamega County.

Two months later, Azziad is yet to respond to the lawmaker, and efforts by Viral Tea to seek comment for her were fruitless.
