Mumias East Member of Parliament Peter Salasya has announced that he is looking for TikTok content creator and influencer, Azziad Nasenya.

In a statement on Wednesday, November 2, Salasya revealed that he is looking for the 22-year-old claiming that she is responsible for the Vaida Luhya song by Harry Richie going viral across social media platforms countrywide.

The lawmaker praised Nasenya as an inspiration to the youth and invited her to be a brand ambassador for Kakamega County.

"There is this girl from Luhya land called Azziad Nasenya who made Vaida song go viral. I'm looking for her.

"She is such an inspirational girl who can be a brand ambassador for us from Kakamega county," Salasya wrote.

His appeal drew mixed reactions from Kenyans who corrected him by stating that the song went viral long before she posted a video of her in September shaking her bum and bosom to vividly describe the plot of the song.

"Mheshimiwa Vaida was a hit. She never made it go viral. We the people shared that link, logged in to YouTube and watched both audio and video.

"Otherwise, she could have been featured in the video. Stop giving credit where it isn't due," Ethuku Ham wrote.

Others thought Salasya was becoming too desperate, given that he has been under pressure from his colleagues and electorate to find himself a suitable woman to marry.

By the time of publication, Azziad was yet to respond to Salasya's appeal.

The video of Azziad dancing to the song also caught the attention of Kakamega senator Boni Khalwale, who reposted it on his end, drawing huge attention from the online community.

Vaida is a Luhya love song featuring Isikuti beats and captivating lyrics that revolve around a beautiful lady married to a village man who leaves to work in the city. The man advises his girlfriend to remain true to the relationship as he toils to look for money and not be swayed by other men.

The song’s message goes on to encourage all couple’s long-distance relationships or marriages to be faithful despite the loneliness and distance. This is despite it surpassing more than one million YouTube views in less than a month.

The song's composer, Richie, however, revealed that Vaida is actually a dedication to his daughter who goes by the same name.

“This is the first time I’m revealing this. Vaida is the name of my last-born daughter. When she was born, I promised her that I would compose a song for her. My wife is from Bulawayo, Zimbabwe, and in their Shona language, Vaida means ‘promise,” Richie told The Africa Report.

One of the women, Ronad Lydia, had responded to Salasya's request for a wife by publicly proposing to him, but he instead offered her a job and pledged to help her set up her own business, in case she prefers that.
