Agano party presidential candidate, David Mwaure, has named Rachel Ruto and Ida Odinga to be part of his Cabinet in the event he wins the August 9 general elections.

Rachel and Ida are the wives of Azimio la Umoja presidential candidate, Raila Odinga and his competitor, Deputy President William Ruto.

Addressing the media on Thursday, August 4, Mwaure defended Ida as a woman whose service to the nation had earned her a spot in his cabinet.

The list of proposals fronted by Mwaure also has Roots Party presidential candidate, George Wajackoyah and his running mate, Justina Wamae.

"If Wajackoyah makes his ways, there is something he is trying to tell Kenyans. We can make him be in charge of the Cancer Center we want to develop," he commented.

Justina spoke following the nomination and said “thanks for the opportunity to prove that youth and women are legitimately on the decision-making table. Your role in Roots Party Government is cut out for you facilitate the war on corruption".

“Perhaps you would put into consideration "Legalising and Regulating marijuana for export. I thank you Ruth Mutua for showing Kenyans that politics is not about enmity. The most important thing is that the interests of Kenyans and Kenya as a country are paramount,”

Mwaure and his running mate, Ruth Mutua, also named Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang'i and Education CS George Magoha to be part of his government. The duo have been serving in President Uhuru Kenyatta's government.

He also named Reuben Kigame, who was disqualified from the presidential race, as well as Archbishop of the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Nyeri, Anthony Muheria and Kisumu bishop, Winnie Owiti.

Retired Chief Justice David Maraga was also named, so was lawyer PLO Lumumba and activist Okiya Omtatah.

Mwaure assured that the Agano Party had not engaged the nominees on the proposal to be included in his future cabinet.

Turning to the Head of State, Mwaure urged him not to interfere with the electoral process, asking him to confirm that he will hand over power to him if he wins the elections.

“We have a humble message to President Uhuru Kenyatta. We are asking you Mr President and I’m asking you personally as a presidential candidate that you confirm to Kenyans that you or the deep state around you will not influence elections towards your preferred candidate.

“And that you will also hand over power to me when I win as I have confidence that Kenyans will vote for me when they get to the ballot. They are just quiet,” he said.

However, recent opinion polls have seen him come last among the four candidates and he has not even been drawing close to Wajackoyah.

IPSOS Synovate during their opinion poll report revealed that Mwaure was unknown to voters, hence his terrible performance. He came at 0.2 per cent with Raila and Ruto termed as the main contenders to succeed the President.
