Former President Uhuru Kenyatta's daughter, Ngina Kenyatta, was spotted walking along the streets of the Nairobi Central Business District (CBD) for the first time since her father handed over power to President William Ruto.

Reports had claimed that she was without her usual VIP treatment, with two undated videos surfacing on Saturday, April 29 taking a casual stroll in the CBD, crossing the road along Kenyatta Avenue near Sarova Stanley Hotel.

The former first daughter was seen walking in the company of two men, seemingly of foreign descent, within the busy street with boda boda riders not taking too much notice of her, probably assuming that she was like any other ordinary citizen carrying an umbrella in the midst of the rainy season.

She was also seen running her errands uninterrupted in the capital alongside the two men, errands that Viral Tea was unable to independently verify.

The video attracted mixed reactions, given that Ngina is one of several daughters of politicians and prominent persons, including presidents, former and current, who enjoy life in secrecy. In comparison, President Ruto's daughter, Charlene Ruto, has been actively engaging the youth in various reach-out forums and initiatives.

She has also used a variety of situations to increase her presence online as well as her profile as the First Daughter. She has been engaged in high-profile public events despite her father not appointing her to a government role.

Charlene also made headlines in 2022 on social media alone and has been through it all; being branded "Quickmart Ivanka" by Kenyans On Twitter (KOT), going viral over her smokie kachumbari past business at Daystar University as well as her alleged creation of the Office of the First Daughter, which was questioned by even politicians.

Ngina last made headlines on Thursday, September 16, 2021, after delivering at Aga Khan Hospital, according to sources who told Viral Tea at the time. However, the event was kept under wraps despite reports indicating that Uhuru and Margaret Kenyatta visited her at the facility.

The baby was Kenyatta's third grandchild after Kenyatta's firstborn son, Jomo and his wife Fiona Acholla were blessed with two kids, Wanjiru (named after first lady Margaret Kenyatta) and Uhuru (named after the president).

Some netizens questioned why Uhuru's eldest daughter walked unprotected, attributing the incident to confirmation by Inspector General of Police Japhet Koome of the scaling down of Uhuru's security in line with the National Police Service protocols

Uhuru, on his part, has been largely keeping off the public eye, with the small exception of his impromptu visit to Jubilee Party headquarters amidst a row between two factions, one allied to Uhuru and the other, to President William Ruto.

He has also been absent from a number of functions by Azimio la Umoja, in which his party is one of its coalition members.

"It is important you keep out, you've been there, let the opposition and government fight it out themselves, you keep to the background. The important thing is for a former Head of State to be in the background and not to take an active role in politics from whichever side, not even neutral.

"Just mind your business, take your drink, run your financial empire and enjoy your life, play with your grandchildren, there's too much to do," Political analyst Herman Manyora on Thursday, April 20 recommended to the former Head of State during an interview with Esther Nyonje on YouTube.
