Kapsaret Member of Parliament Oscar Sudi on Wednesday, October 2 sought to address the questions likely to emerge regarding the next Deputy President of the Republic of Kenya to work alongside President William Ruto, amidst the impeachment motion tabled against Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua.

In a statement, the legislator, a close ally of Ruto, assured that the next DP would come from the Mt Kenya region, clarifying the role the vote-rich region played in the shaping of Ruto's administration.

He claimed that the Mt. Kenya region is at the centre of the Kenya Kwanza government's plans and it was very unlikely for the region to be isolated.

Sudi, who has been at loggerheads with Gachagua in the recent past, stated President Ruto's wing of the Kenya Kwanza government has no issue with Mt.Kenya leaders except the DP.

"There's no doubt Murima is at the core of this government.  No one has an issue with the majority of leaders from the mountain, save for one ill-behaved character.

"Even his replacement will surely come from the mountain. Sure Bet," he assured.

While he did not detail the person likely to be picked for the position, political players have hinted at Interior Cabinet Secretary Kithure Kindiki. Notably, Kindiki was picked as the link between the government and the region by over 48 lawmakers a few days ago.

This comes after 291 Members of Parliament signed a motion to impeach Rigathi Gachagua as the Deputy President accusing him of 11 accounts, the motion being fronted by Kibwezi West MP Mwengi Mutuse, surpassing the 117 threshold needed to impeach a Deputy president.

Gachagua has been accused of using his two sons, to allegedly, massively launder money, conceal proceeds of crime, corruption, and benefit from influence peddling.

Other grounds for impeachment include; going against the oath of office, violating the National Cohesion and Integration Act, amassing property illegally, and misleading the public on critical matters.

Kenyans in all 47 counties will be expected to table their opinions on the ouster of the Deputy President on Friday, October 4. National Assembly Speaker, Moses Wetangula announced that public participation is expected to be concluded at that date.
