Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, in yet another impassionate rant against President William Ruto, has accused his former boss of destroying the value of the presidential seat through insults directed at his critics, warning that a continuation of the same could force Kenyans to disrespect him.

Speaking on Monday, February 10 during the burial service of Mzee William Nderitu Kinyua the father of Laikipia Senator John Kinyua, in Kiamariga, Laikipia West, Laikipia County, Gachagua accused Ruto of refusing to listen to him before making policy decisions that have drawn the wrath of Kenyans from all divides, including the Mt Kenya region.

The impeached second-in-command believed that Ruto was damaging the reputation of the presidency by resorting to insensitive comments targeting those vocal against his policies and manifesto.

"Mr President, you are demeaning the presidency. The presidency is the symbol of national unity, it is a very dignified office. When you resort to abuses and insults...abusing the people of Kenya and you are President, you are demeaning that office," he stated.

"I appreciate that you are unhappy that things are not working out. I do understand as a leader that many Kenyans have deserted you. I appreciate that you have messed up the economy and you are stuck, but that does not allow you to demean that office by abusing the people of Kenya who elected you."

Gachagua also faulted the Head of State for profiling communities through public addresses, including labelling Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka as a green grams farmer.

He warned Ruto that should the latter continue with the insults, this could anger Kenyans to the point of revolting against him.

"Mr Presidentt, be careful because I have listened to the ground and I want to advise you to stop abusing the people of Kenya because if you continue, these Kenyans will abuse you," he stated.

"Even if they are not learned and do not have a PhD, there is no need to abuse them because they are the ones who voted for you."

Gachagua was referring to another instance of Ruto using unpresidential language to respond to critics opposed to the nationwide livestock mass vaccination campaign, calling them fools who do not have the range to address him due to their lack of adequate education.

During his third day in Garissa County as part of his Northern Kenya tour on Thursday last week, the President left many shocked with his insensitive remarks directed towards critics who are opposed to the vaccination of close to 80 million cattle, goats and sheep.

"If we sell our meat internationally, is there a problem? If we sell our milk abroad, is there a problem? I see that there are people who are complaining, and I don't know where they learned," Ruto stated during a visit to Garissa County.

"Don't I have a PhD? I know what is happening in Kenya. Now those with little education are trying to teach me. What are you teaching me?"

Further, Ruto appeared to target Kalonzo, who has been critical of the government’s vaccination drive, calling him a "ndengu man," loosely translated as a "mung beans man." Ndengu is a major cash crop in the Ukambani region, where the opposition leader hails from.

In a quick, cryptic rejoinder, Kalonzo posted a picture of himself looking after his cows at his rural home, responding to President Ruto’s claim that he did not own any livestock.
