First Lady Rachel Ruto on Sunday, June 18 differentiated between how President William Ruto raised their children and how she was raised by her father.

In a poignant Father's Day message, Mama Rachel memorised the values her father imparted to her while growing up under his wing.

"I have many fond memories of my father. But what has stayed with me through the years are the moments spent polishing his shoes.

"My father would make me polish his shoes in front of a mirror. And, whenever I thought I had achieved the perfect lustre, he would make me brush some more," she wrote.

Rachel explained that what her father was trying to teach her through actions was the virtue of patience and persistence, something she noted was similar to how her husband was teaching their children.

"My young hands would grow tired until I got the perfect shine. Without telling me he was teaching me, my father taught me that every glow comes after a gruesome brush.

"Years later, I have seen Bill do the same with our children. Maybe it's every father's thing. To teach without telling," she went on.

Rachel Ruto concluded by celebrating all fathers and urged them to emulate her father and President Ruto by imparting good values to their children.

"Today, as we mark this Fathers' Day, I celebrate all the fathers who teach their children that, in everything they do, they must endeavour to "get the sheen right!" she added.

Father's Day is dedicated not only to fathers but also to father figures who shape our minds and play a vital role in giving wings to our dreams.

Fathers are our first love, the last hero of our life, who teaches strength in silence and since the value of a loving father has no price, it is commemorated in most parts of the world on the third Sunday of June as Father's Day.

Father's Day is celebrated to express one's respect and love for fathers and to cherish the father figures in one's life.
