Ruto Announces Birth Of First Grandchild
He disclosed that Chemutai hailed from Laikipia County, but in terms of the gender of the child, he did not disclose.

President William Ruto on Sunday, January 8 expressed his joy at learning that he and his wife, Mama Rachel Ruto, became grandparents.
Speaking during an inter-denominational thanksgiving service in Nanyuki, Ruto appreciated the people of Laikipia County for blessing his son, Nick Ruto, with a wife, Evelyn Chemutai, who have been blessed with a child.
He disclosed that Chemutai hailed from Laikipia County, but in terms of the gender of the child, he did not disclose.

"I paid dowry last year and I want to thank the people of Laikipia because you gave my son a wife. We came here in January 2022 to pay dowry and now we are blessed with a grandchild from that union.
"I, therefore, express my heartfelt gratitude to the people of Laikipia and we will continue to be close relations," stated Ruto.
The President added that the child was among the reasons he chose to visit Nanyuki in anticipation of the news from his son and daughter-in-law, the same location where he hosted a Cabinet retreat.
"I'm told in Laikipia dowry is paid every day. I shall keep coming so that we finish this business. So if you see me, don't forget, before I go, you say what goes on here," he promised.
Nick Ruto and Chemutai tied the knot on January 15, 2022, in a Kalenjin traditional wedding ceremony held at the Head of State's residence in Sugoi, Uasin Gishu County.
A number of politicians including Uasin Gishu Senator Jackson Mandago, Nandi Governor Stephen Sang, and Transport CS Kipchumba Murkomen among others attended the event.
