Jamaican dancehall star Chinsea Linda Lee, better known as Shenseea, will land in Kenya ahead of her concert on Saturday, August 26.

Speaking to Viral Tea, event organisers of the Sababisha Festival which will be held at Uhuru Gardens, confirmed her visit to Kenya despite the Blessed hitmaker yet to announce the same on her social media handles by the time of publishing.

They revealed that they had sought her consent first before making public the announcement, evidenced by a poster seen by Viral Tea where she will be the headline act.

Ticket sales for the highly anticipated concert began on Tuesday, July 4, with a regular ticket setting one back Ksh3,000 while VIP tickets will go for Ksh8,000.

The rapper had on November 8, 2021, hinted via a Twitter post that she would visit Kenya and that the trip would be worth the wait.

“Kenya, I see y'all! I promise I'm coming soon! My visit will be worth the wait.” the Jamaican star tweeted.

Much later, she dropped a hint about possibly visiting the East African nation in January 2022 on a long trip and getting to sample more African cuisine, though it was unclear whether or not that hint turned out to be a reality.

“For Kenya, I got a couple of offers, but…hopefully I’ll be there in January, I think after resting for so long I wanna go to Kenya first, take a long trip, eat some more African food..." she had hinted on her Instagram Live.

Shenseea's meteoric rise to fame has seen her collaborate with artists like Tarrus Riley, Vybz Kartel, Swae Lee, Young Thug, and Kanye West's new album 'Donda,' for which she was nominated for a Grammy for Album Of The Year at the 64th Grammy Awards.

Since her debut song Loodi with Vybz Kartel in 2016, Shenseea has been one of the fast-rising dancehall stars and DJs out of Jamaica. Her collaboration with Sean Paul on the song Rolling played a big part in increasing her visibility internationally.

She has also proved herself with strong and flowing lyrics while in London on shows with DJs like Toddla T and Seani B.

On June 4, 2023, she released a new single titled “Sold Out", produced by London On Da Track and Dready. It followed her latest single, “Curious,” released in April ahead of her Coachella debut.

In 2022, Shenseea released her highly anticipated debut album, Alpha, which debuted at No.2 on Billboard’s Reggae Album chart.

The album features superstar production from Rvssian (her longtime collaborator and Rich Immigrants founder), Scott Storch, and London On Da Track.

She has accomplished far more than a majority of artists have, with far less at the opportune young age of 26 years old, and with her visit to Kenya, she is set to join the likes of Boyz II Men, Etana, Omah Lay, Adekunle Gold, Black Coffee, Uncle Waffles among other international acts to have performed in Kenya in recent years.
