"He was told to take a motorbike and within a half-kilometer, he was accosted by thieves whose origins were unknown. He was shot and robbed of the money," the relative told the press.

Adan was shot on Muratina Street in Eastleigh on Saturday, with the footage showing two armed assailants accosting Adan and his rider, while also on a bodaboda.

One assailant was captured jumping off the boda boda and approached Adan while pointing a pistol at him. He was then shot and the assailant stole the money valued at Ksh4.1 million.

Pedestrians rushed the businessman to hospital after the incident. A medical practitioner at the hospital where Adan was admitted revealed that the injury was serious and required specialized attention.

When he arrived at the hospital, he could not feel his legs calling for a Computed tomography (CT) Scan and Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI).

"When the injury happened, the patient could not sense his legs and when he was brought, we managed to take care of him immediately," the medical expert explained

"We did imaging, a CT Scan, and an MRI. That confirmed our fears which shows that he has got a serious injury in his spinal cord. He will require a procedure to stabilise the spine and decompress the spinal cord to give him a chance for recovery."

Detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) visited the scene on Sunday and assessed the CCTV footage as part of the investigation.

Starehe Police Commander Fred Abuga confirmed that a manhunt for the two robbers was launched.
