Did you know that it is now possible to have your luggage cleared and delivered from the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) in Nairobi to your preferred drop-off point, be it your home or the hotel you are staying in?

This is thanks to the Kenya Airports Authority (KAA) which through its Hala Nairobi Airport Services, introduced Airport Mtaani, an innovative luggage collection and coordination service at JKIA which allows passengers to alight and head to their destinations directly knowing their luggage will be delivered to their doorstep.

The pioneering service aims to revolutionize luggage handling, offering travellers unparalleled convenience and efficiency.

Appointed by KAA, Hala Nairobi Airport Services will manage unaccompanied luggage at JKIA in collaboration with contracted ground handlers and airlines.

This initiative underscores KAA's commitment to enhancing passenger experience and elevating airport services.

"Airport Mtaani provides a comprehensive range of services, including baggage storage options for layover passengers and VIP service for swift departures.

"With the VIP service, passengers arriving at Nairobi airport can skip the baggage claims process entirely, allowing them to proceed directly to other engagements while Airport Mtaani handles luggage retrieval, customs clearance, and delivery, ensuring a seamless experience," stated KAA in part.

While speaking during the launch event held at JKIA on Thursday, March 28, KAA Acting General Manager in charge of JKIA, Selina Gor, highlighted the growing popularity of luggage delivery services.

She further cited the increasing complexity and time constraints of modern travel.

"As airports become busier and security procedures more stringent, passengers seek simplified experiences, making luggage delivery services invaluable solutions that cater to evolving traveller needs," remarked Gor.

KAA Board Chairman Caleb Kositany emphasized the streamlined process offered by Airport Mtaani during the event.

"Gone are the days of having to navigate through security screening just to check on your baggage. This streamlined process saves time and hassle for passengers upon arrival," noted Kositany.

"Airport Mtaani is collaborating closely with all airlines to ensure comprehensive information is available for luggage inquiries. This means passengers can quickly ascertain the status of their luggage without unnecessary delays."

Kositany added that passengers will further have the convenience of accessing the Authority's call centre round-the-clock from the comfort of their homes to get real-time updates on their luggage status.

"And here's the best part – these inquiries come at absolutely no cost to the public," he added.

This groundbreaking initiative marks a significant step forward in enhancing the passenger experience at JKIA and sets a new standard for airport services in Kenya.
