This was further confirmed by media personality Willis Raburu, who is the Director of Digital Services and Innovations at Cape Media and who coincidentally was his colleague at RMS.

Popular radio host Steve Jacob Maunda alias Shatta Bway has joined Cape Media Limited, which owns TV47 and Radio 47, days after he left the Royal Media Services (RMS).

Radio 47 announced that Bway was joining the radio station as the Director of Projects and Strategy.

He will be serving in the role for both TV47 and Maybet, which is run by the media organisation.

This was further confirmed by media personality Willis Raburu, who is the Director of Digital Services and Innovations at Cape Media and who coincidentally was his colleague at RMS. What's more delightful is that both of them will serve as directors.

"It’s a big day once again for our Cape Media brands and our affiliates. First Shatta Tikitaka joins us as Director of Projects and Strategy for Maybets brand and as a host for Radio 47 and TV47 Kenya," Raburu announced on his social media pages.

On his part, the media personality posted an announcement video on his social media platforms where he announced to his fans that "Wadau, tumehama," loosely translating to "My people, we have moved."

The announcement by Cape Media comes after he revealed on Monday, March 18 that he was leaving RMS radio station Radio Citizen after five years to focus on raising his children as a widower.

He is a father of two, a teenage boy aged 13 years and a younger daughter and had lost his wife on June 25, 2023, after falling ill and getting admitted to hospital for some time.

"Where I am at in life, I am making decisions as two parents. I have to think like a mother and as a father and I need time with my children.

"My son is a teenager aged 13 years old and that is the point a parent is like to lose their children unknowingly," he explained.

Bway added that he felt he needed to spend more time with his children and that he felt he could not stay in a career which risked snatching that opportunity away from him, thus missing out on accomplishing what he wanted to do with his children.

Before his exit from RMS, Bway was famous for hosting the Waks Tikitaka show on Radio Citizen alongside Q-Tee and DJ Rambo from 10 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.

He also hosted a morning show on Citizen TV which revolved around common relationship issues in modern society.

Cape Media has been on an explosive recruitment spree and has particularly caught the eye of Kenya's showbiz and media industry, from Claudia Naisabwa, Alex Mwakideu, Fred Arocho and Fred Indimuli amongst others.

TV47's bold ambitions to rise to the very top of Kenya's TV industry through the raiding of star media performers from rival media houses to go head to head with mainstream media giants such as Citizen TV, NTV and KTN, among others, a feat Radio 47 is also aiming to do in the radio industry.
