Seasoned business journalist and TV anchor, Terryanne Chebet, has returned to the silver screens after almost three years of being away from the newsroom.

Taking to Twitter on Wednesday, January 11, Chebet announced that she would be joining Africa’s business TV channel CNBC Africa, which is a broadcaster based in South Africa.

She added that she would serve as its Senior Correspondent whereby she will focus on the latest in business news across her home country, Kenya, as well as the rest of Africa.

"Good morning. I'm excited about going back to where it all began. I've joined Africa's Leading Business News Channel CNBC Africa as a Senior Correspondent as well as leading Business Development in Kenya," she wrote.

This will be her second stint at CNBC, having been there as a reporter cum producer between March 2007 and August 2010, having started out at KBC as a news anchor, TV producer and director from September 2002 to February 2007.

Before she stepped into the media industry, Chebet was an actress at Phoenix Players for two years where she had time to juggle between the Phoenix Theatre, School and work at KBC, stating on her LinkedIn that "I was a (never a lead) actress for several plays and my most favourite - musicals."

She then joined Royal Media Services (RMS) as an associate editor and business news anchor for Citizen TV in November 2010 and also worked as a business news anchor at CGTN Africa in 2011. It was at Citizen TV where she made a name for herself, working alongside Michael Njenga, who is now at Inooro TV.

In 2018, Chebet joined Fanaka TV as its Chief Executive Officer (CEO) where she was in charge of the rebranding of the TV station, hiring of key managers and support staff and Capacity building, brand building for both online and traditional advertising platforms, commissioning content and leading in-house teams on content production and creating revenue channels.

She then joined Metropol TV as its general manager in 2019 until her exit in June 2020.

Other than her stint in the media, she also runs Keyara Botanics, a tech-enabled clean and non-toxic skincare label created using sustainable and ethically sourced products from farmers such as Aloe Vera from Kitui and Baobab oil from Nanyuki, Laikipia County.

Among those who took to Twitter to congratulate her on her new appointment include journalist Eugene Anangwe, currently Rwanda’s country manager for CNBC, and former Nation Media Group CEO Linus Gitahi.
