Tortured, Seriously Injured, Cannot Speak: Gachagua On Juja MP George Koimburi
According to Gachagua, Koimburi inhaled some kind of chemical during the abduction, which may have caused the loss of speech.

Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has revealed that Juja Member of Parliament (MP) George Koimburi was subjected to torture by his kidnappers to the point of losing his voice.
After visiting Koimburi at Karen Hospital in Nairobi on Monday, May 26, Gachagua disclosed to the press that the MP had lost his ability to speak owing to damage to his vocal cords and could only communicate by writing.
According to Gachagua, Koimburi inhaled some kind of chemical during the abduction, which may have caused the loss of speech.
He also mentioned that the MP sustained soft tissue injuries, suggesting that the torture was carried out by individuals with professional expertise, professionals he alleged were picked by senior state officials.

"I have talked to the doctors and they have confirmed that the honourable George Koimburi was tortured by professionals. He has serious soft-tissue injuries...this is torture normally done by professionals. He has lost his voice, and the doctors are working around the clock to restore his vocal cords. He has been able to communicate through writing because he is not able to speak," he revealed.
"Some chemical was administered through inhalation, and the doctors have told us that preliminary investigations confirm that the chemical has interfered with his vocal cords."
Koimburi was reportedly abducted in broad daylight during a church service on Sunday. Less than a day after Kiambu Senator Karungo wa Thang'wa claimed Koimburi was snatched and shoved into a Subaru by unknown men, the MP was found abandoned at Jacaranda Coffee Plantation in the Kibichoi area of Ruiru, Kiambu County.
At the same time, Gachagua called out the government for using what he described as desperate measures to shut down its most outspoken critics.
He claimed the government was targeting and intimidating his allies, pointing out that the recent abduction of the Juja MP had put several supportive lawmakers at risk.
Gachagua criticised the withdrawal of security details assigned to his allies to leave them vulnerable to any sort of attacks against them and said they would now take extra steps to ensure their safety. He also warned that if anything were to happen to them, the President would be held directly accountable.
Notably, this is the second time he has decried deliberate attempts to harm him and those close to him. On Monday, May 19, last week, Gachagua alleged a murder plot against him, with state-sponsored officers given specific instructions to take him out. He revealed that he was made aware of alleged instructions from the President to 'deal with him' once and for all.
Gachagua also claimed that the government wanted to poison him using biological means on Sunday, when the contingent of officers chasing him had barricaded his home.
"After about 30 minutes, the killer squad was joined by their counterparts, who were highly trained in the use of biological weapons.
"Their instructions were to poison me through inhaled chemicals that would paralyse my brain within three months. This was the intent and the purpose of the whole operation," Gachagua stated.
