Content creator and law graduate Ivy Chelimo has revealed that the opportunity to work in the office of Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua is a stepping stone towards her political bid in the 2027 general elections.

Speaking after meeting Gachagua on Monday, October 17, the mastermind of the 'Riggy G' nickname revealed that having recently graduated, she was now taken care of in terms of making ends meet.

She added that she would use her position in the DP's communications team, offered to her by Gachagua, to strengthen her capacity to run for a seat in the 2027 polls.

“He asked me what I wanted, and I just cleared university and when he asked me to join the communications team. In 2027 I would either run for a member of parliament (MP) seat or a senator,” Chelimo told YouTuber Vincent Mboya.

Chelimo denied reports that she was offered a hefty salary, allowances and other gratuities, including a round-the-clock police unit drafted from his office.

She narrated her first experience on board a military helicopter as well as the watertight protocols in place during the Deputy President's travels across the country.

At the time, Gachagua was flying to Kajiado County for the World Food Day at Rombo, Kajiado South Sub County, moments after meeting her in his office, a matter she noted was an example of a speedy schedule seeing her join the DP's motorcade.

"It was my first time boarding a military chopper, and somehow, I felt tense because of the protocols involved while moving around with the Deputy President.

“I was with my parents and I didn’t even have time to talk to many people, my parents left, and we got on a chopper and went to Kajiado so by the time we got to Kajioado everyone already knew I had a job,” Chelimo said.

She further revealed that the Office of the Deputy President was planning on incorporating comedian, KK Mwenyewe, whose mimicking of DP Gachagua went viral countrywide.

"I want to thank the Deputy President for the opportunity you gave me to grow my wings. Thank you for the initiatives you have put in place for the youth.

"We pray by the end of five years, your agenda for the youth will come to fruition," Chelimo remarked. Speaking to Citizen TV's Waihiga Mwaura on the night of Sunday, October 2, Gachagua revealed that he sent his sons to look for Chelimo so that she could sit down with the family for dinner. He also disclosed that he was planning to offload part of his Ksh1.22 million salary to boost her as she carries out her work.

Notably, her family tree includes her elder cousin who happens to be Kenya Broadcasting Corporation (KBC) sports anchor, Caren Kibbett. The journalist recently bagged two awards at the Zikomo Africa Awards held in Zambia.
