TV47 and Radio 47 sports presenter, Albanus Kiswili revealed on Monday, July 17 that he was attacked by robbers on Friday night, July 14 who made away with his mobile phone after stabbing him three times.

In a statement on Twitter, Kiswili revealed that he was accosted by the robbers in the Nairobi Central Business District (CBD) around the Railway station matatu stage while boarding a matatu to Rongai.

"Good morning fam. I was robbed of my phone and stabbed thrice on Friday around Railways - Stage ya Rongai. Luckily I managed to go to the hospital and I'm ok.

"Thanks to everyone who has reached out - I hope that explains why I've been offline," he wrote, an indication that he survived the daring attack.

Speaking to Viral Tea, Kiswili narrated that he had gone for football training from 8 pm to 11 pm after coming from his workplace and on his way out, he took a lift in a friend's car which dropped him near the matatu stage.

"I had to look for a bike to transport me to Imenti to board a matatu back home. The boda boda rider had insisted that I pay him first which I did.

"Then from there, after I boarded the matatu, the guy took a turn to go as though he was heading to OTC instead of Imenti. Upon asking him, he stopped the bike and called me a thief and upon alighting, two other people joined him with knives, stabbed me and took two phones," he recounted.

Kiswili further noted that he lost a Samsung Galaxy A32 and a Tecno Spark 8P; the former was worth up to Ksh35,000 while the latter was worth up to Ksh19,000.

When Viral Tea questioned him on whether he had reported the matter to the police, Kiswili added that he did so on Saturday, July 15 and was yet to receive feedback on the same.

In a subsequent tweet, Kiswili urged the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) to urgently follow up on the matter after he reported the case at Kasarani Police Station, with the aim of getting back his phone and cracking down on the suspects.

Back in December 2022, Moses Okiror Omusolo, a business journalist attached to the Standard Group, was found murdered and his body was dumped inside a ditch along the busy Kang'undo Road with a deep cut on the head.

Police revealed that he was suspected to have been killed elsewhere and the body dumped on the site. It was not immediately established the circumstances that led to the murder of the journalist who also wrote articles for the Nation Media Group (NMG).

The Media Council of Kenya (MCK) appealed to National Police Service (NPS) under Inspector General, Japhet Koome to take action on those responsible for Omusolo's murder.
