Wife Of Man Who Drowned In Juja Dam Reveals Last Phone Call
Kiiru rushed to City Mortuary and confirmed his demise...

The wife of a businessman who drowned in a dam in Juja, Kiambu County after his vehicle plunged was not with him when the incident occurred.
Margaret Kiiru, the widow of Tirus Maina, shared with the media on Thursday, January 19 details of their last conversation before the Tuesday night, January 17 tragedy.
She noted that her husband had left for work the day before and had spoken on phone later that evening, disclosing that he was attending a business meeting in Juja. This would however be the last time they spoke to each other.
“My husband left home for work on Monday morning, and we spoke in the evening around 7 pm. He said he was in Juja for a business meeting, I asked what he would want for dinner and that was the last time we spoke,” she told Citizen TV.
Her husband's phone went off afterwards and it would be unreachable even for her. Her messages to him also went unanswered, a manner which worried her as he would normally respond.
She later received a phone call from one of her husband's friends, who told her to report to the Kimbo police station where she was informed of the harrowing news of his passing.
Kiiru rushed to City Mortuary and confirmed his demise. However, she could not ascertain the identity of the woman who was with him and who was also found dead in the tragedy.
“Although I do not know her, I believe the woman who was with my husband that night was a friend, he had so many friends because of the nature of his business,” she maintained.
She added that her husband was an entrepreneur dealing in engineering products. The dam they were discovered at is a popular spot for locals and revellers who enjoy outdoor activities.
Pictures that circulated during national broadcast bulletins showed the area littered with bottles of alcohol, indicating that people often partied there.
According to eyewitnesses, Maina and the unidentified woman were in a Nissan X-Trail car parked near the Titanic Dam and at around 9:30 pm, they heard screams for help as the vehicle plunged into the dam.
Those who witnessed the incident revealed that the couple had parked the car beside the river and reportedly relaxed and made merry prior to the tragedy.
By Tuesday evening, rescuers had managed to recover the body of the woman while efforts to recover both the vehicle and the body of the man were launched. On Wednesday, January 18, the body of the man and the car were spotted in the dam and efforts to retrieve it were launched which were successful at 11 am.
