25-Year-Old Woman's Head Chopped Off While Cooking Ugali In Kitchen

A 25-year-old woman was reportedly beheaded by unknown assailants on Wednesday night, January 17 inside her home in Boya village, Ndhiwa, within Homa Bay County.

The woman's headless body was found the following day lying in a pool of blood in the family’s kitchen house.

Police said that the woman was attacked by unknown people while inside the kitchen cooking ugali for her family.

Reports indicate that the husband and other family members were gathered inside the main house; a separate building within the homestead when the accident occurred.

According to the area Assistant Chief Milton Kawino, the deceased woman's husband heard commotion from the main house and rushed to the kitchen.

“On reaching the kitchen, he found the body of his wife lying on the floor in a fresh pool of blood, with the head missing,” said Chief Kawino.

“The suspects disappeared into the darkness, and their whereabouts have not yet been established."

Many questions have since been raised as to how the suspects managed to execute the heinous act and melt away so effortlessly.

Ndhiwa Sub-County Police Commander Paul Rioba confirmed the incident, adding “Our officers are actively investigating the matter. At the moment we are trying to hunt down the assailants and establish the motive of the attack."

The body of the deceased is lying at the Manyatta Kobodo mortuary. The incident comes after the naked body of a middle-aged woman was found dumped at the Gwa-Kairu area in Juja, Kiambu County.

Juja sub-county Police Commander Michael Mwaura confirmed the incident saying detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) based in Juja visited the scene as the woman's body had visible physical injuries and bruises on the face, and that the surrounding area showed signs of a struggle.

Leaves of muguka, a variety of khat, also commonly known in Kenya as ‘Jaba’,  as well as some ground nuts were also found at the scene, with the deceased yet to be identified.

Meanwhile, a 20-year-old girl, Rita Waeni Muendo, was killed and her body dismembered at TRM Drive in Roysambu, Nairobi, a week after the Starlet Wahu murder in South B in what is turning to be a femicide crisis in the country, just two weeks into 2024.
