Transport Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen on Friday, September 22 made a surprise visit to the National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA) headquarters in Upperhill, Nairobi.

Reports indicated that the CS was at NTSA to probe delays in the processing and issuance of DLs, logbooks, and digital number plates.

One of the motorists captured in a video seen by Viral Tea approached Murkomen and complained to him of the situation at the NTSA offices, lamenting that he was not getting the prompt service like other users.

Clutching the old version of his number plate, the motorist complained that he had received a text message from NTSA informing him to collect the Digital Number Plate but upon arrival, he was told that it was not ready for collection.

The motorist further complained that he had received the same instructions two weeks before, and thus was not able to collect the digital number plate.

"We cannot continue working like this," he said while showing Murkomen the old number plate he had carried with him.

The motorist voiced the frustrations of several of his counterparts over delayed services at NTSA offices, some even taking to social media to appeal to government bodies to intervene.

The issues range from a lack of response from NTSA on queries as well as delays in driver's licenses and second-generation number plate collection.

Murkomen joins CSs who have been lately making impromptu visits to government offices amidst an increase in complaints regarding poor service delivery on the premises.

Interior CS Kithure Kindiki has been making a series of impromptu visits to Nyayo House to probe the passport processing delays in the Department of Immigration.

During the four visits, he interacted with senior Immigration State Department officers and engaged Kenyans who had come to both collect and have their passports processed.

The Interior CS affirmed that President William Ruto's government will eradicate corruption at Nyayo House and ensure efficiency in the printing and collecting of passports.

While Kindiki maintains that the issue has been resolved, Kenyans continue to complain of delays, even though the Ministry revealed that 87,574 passports are ready for collection as of Thursday, September 21.
