2 Rescued After Another Building Under Demolition Collapses In Mathare
First aid was administered to the victims before they were rushed to the hospital for specialised treatment.

The Kenya Red Cross on Wednesday, June 12 led a rescue operation after five people were trapped when a four-storey building collapsed in the Gateway area of Mathare North, Nairobi County.
It began with preliminary reports indicating that the building had been partially demolished when it caved in with people inside.
The humanitarian relief organization, through its Nairobi branch, first reported the collapse, with its rescue teams deployed to assist in search and rescue operations.

"Two people were rescued today after being trapped when a four-storey building under demolition collapsed in Mathare North, Gateway area, Nairobi," stated Kenya Red Cross on X.
The search and rescue operations were carried out by the Kenya Red Cross, the National Disaster Operations Centre and the National Police Service (NPS).
First aid was administered to the victims before they were rushed to the hospital for specialised treatment.
Two more people are suspected to be trapped. Search and rescue operations are still ongoing.
This is the second such incident to occur involving a building undergoing demolition, in adherence to Interior Cabinet Secretary (CS) Kithure Kindiki's directive on May 3 regarding the demolition of buildings and structures illegally erected on riparian lands along Nairobi's riverbanks, mainly impacting structures within 30 metres of the Ngong, Mathare, and Nairobi rivers.
On May 14, several people lost their lives after being trapped under the rubble of a collapsed building in the same residential area.
According to witnesses, more than 10 trapped people who were mostly residents had gone to collect scrap metal deemed up for grabs after demolitions.
Four people were rescued after being trapped under the rubble of the collapsed building that was under demolition in Area 1, Mathare North, according to Kenya Red Cross which thanked the efforts of a multi-agency rescue team.
"Efforts to reach others suspected to be trapped continue. Three out of the four rescued have been taken to a nearby health facility, while one with minor injuries was treated at the scene," stated Kenya Red Cross on X.
