Azimio la Umoja-One Kenya principal, Kalonzo Musyoka, has claimed that former Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) chairperson, Wafula Chebukati, is aware of the identity of Returning Officer for Embakasi East Constituency, Daniel Mbolu Musyoka, who was murdered during the August 2022 elections.

Speaking at Jacaranda Grounds on Sunday, January 29, Kalonzo defended Embakasi East MP Babu Owino from claims that he had sinister motives in Musyoka's murder given that the officer was attached to his constituency.

Kalonzo thus insinuated that Chebukati knows who committed the murder on Musyoka, and further challenged him to reveal the identity of the killers of the commission's former ICT manager Chris Msando.

"What motive did Babu Owino have to kill IEBC returning officer Musyoka when he led with the most votes? Therefore Chebukati and his team know who killed Musyoka...and who killed Msando, we also want to know," Kalonzo addressed.

On October 19, 2022, police arrested four people in connection to Musyoka's murder after they traced the deceased's cell phone to Kisii County where it was sold to a woman.

Musyoka went missing on Thursday, August 11 before he was found dead on Monday, August 15 in Kajiado County during the August 9 general elections period.

During the same address, Azimio leader Raila Odinga reiterated that President William Ruto did not deserve to be elected to the State House and demanded him to leave to pave the way for him to take his place.

"We want you to accept that you lost in the elections. Leave State House so that Baba enters," Raila said.

He further claimed that Chebukati, Abdi Guliye and Boya Molu paid him a visit, before the announcement of results, and alleged to have evidence to prove that the trio sought his audience and made some requests to him.

"Chebukati revealed that some people tried to bribe him as well as Guliye and Molu. Ask them what they came to ask me when they visited my house. Tell them that I have photos that I can expose them," Raila stated.

He further claimed that the tribunal led by Court of Appeal Judge Aggrey Muchelule was being used as political weapons against former IEBC vice-chair Juliana Cherera and co, adding that he warned commissioner Irene Masit that she would be at a disadvantage in choosing to stand trial, even though she wanted justice to be served.

Raila also threatened to expose Muchelule, Chebukati and Speaker of the National Assembly, Moses Wetangula as brothers-in-law, a matter of conflict of interest.

"They placed a tribunal to prosecute Cherera and her friends, Irene Masit stated that she would stand trial. I informed Masit that she is like a sheep going to a pack of hyenas but she told me that she would stand trial and face them in order to defend the truth," he noted.

"Should I expose to the public that Muchelule and Chebukati married from the same side meaning they are brothers-in-law alongside Wetangula?"

Raila further threatened to lobby Kenyans to take matters into their own hands if inspectors from the United Nations are not brought into the country to carry out a comprehensive audit.

"We are calling for the UN to send inspectors to Kenya in the next two weeks or else Kenyans will take action themselves," he noted.

Raila further asserted that the public rallies will continue in Kibera, Machakos and all other counties before returning to Nairobi to continue.

"Tell Ruto that he doesn't know us, go and ask (the late Daniel) Moi about us. We want Kenyans to stand strong. We will go to Machakos, Nakuru, Kisumu, Mombasa Kiambu Garissa, Isiolo, and Turkana and then come back here to Nairobi. Are you ready?" Raila posed amidst a fired-up crowd.
