Azimio la Umoja coalition leader Raila Odinga has declared that he does not recognise William Ruto as President of the Republic of Kenya.

Speaking during a public rally at the Kamukunji grounds in Nairobi on Monday, January 23, Raila further noted that the coalition does not recognise any official appointed by him to the government.

This was among eight demands he listed in his clarion call during his address to his supporters;

1. We reject the 2022 election results totally. We cannot and will not recognise the Kenya Kwanza regime and term its government as illegitimate.

2. We don't recognise Mr William Ruto as the President of Kenya. We equally don't recognise any official appointed by him.

3. We demand that the entire infrastructure and the records of the 2022 elections at the IEBC be made public and audited by an impartial body. A forensic audit of the IEBC results and services is non-negotiable.

4. We demand that any attempts to reconstitute the IEBC single-handedly by Ruto cease forthwith so that Kenyans themselves can reconstitute the body after firm and fair deliberations.

5. We reject the empty [promises made and being made by the UDA regime and call on Kenyans to reject the punitive policies that are making life unbearable.UDA is resorting to these policies because it was not ready and did not get any mandate to govern.

6. We call on Kenyans to resist and demand the removal of the punitive taxes that have led to punitive costs of basic products and services including Unga, milk, sugar, school books, fuel, electricity, bus fare, paraffin and school fees.

7. We demand that the Kenya Kwanza government resigns as it has neither the mandate nor the ability to govern the country.

"From today, we call on every Kenyan buying electricity to take a keen look at the statement and see how much of their money actually goes into tokens, taxes and how long we are going to live like this

8. Lastly, we ask our people to say no to the UDA regime. This regime and its unfortunate and unfair policies must be resisted and the resistance starts today.

Raila Answers Ruto On Plot to Kill Chebukati

At the same time, Raila rubbished Ruto's claims of an alleged murder plot on Wafula Chebukati, stating that if he had evidence of the same, he would have forwarded it to the authorities.

"What Ruto is insinuating is that former President Uhuru Kenyatta is the one behind the plot."

"What would have prevented him (Uhuru)? He was the Head of State. The president cannot make such utterances. He needs to have evidence," Raila stated.

Raila Responds to Gachagua's Mau Mau Remarks

At the same time, he dared Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua over remarks he made criticising him, connected to the Mau Mau.

'I was surprised to hear Gachagua bragging that Ruto should let him handle me. Every time he also keeps telling Kenyans that he is the son of Maumau, I have news for him," Raila remarked amidst an excited and charged crowd.

He further mocked Gachagua by telling him that he was not born during Mau Mau's fight for independence, hence should stop using the son of Mau Mau for political attention.

"I want to educate Gachagua that it was my father Jaramogi Oginga Odinga who represented Maumau freedom fighters and took them out of jail," he stated.

He further told Gachagua to be wary of consequences before making wild political remarks.

"Gachagua should learn about political history and appreciate where we have come as a nation. I have sacrificed a lot for this country even spending years in jail for this country, we are not equal agewise or politically and he should respect me," he added.

Raila Revives Weekly Rallies

Raila further announced that there will be rallies every week in a bid to defend the rights of Kenyans. In addition, he vowed that there will be no elections in 2027 until the issues concerning 2022 are addressed.

"We want Kenyans to come out strong. There will be no elections in 2027 until we clean up the dirt of 2022. There are no two ways about it. We will campaign and defend the rights of Kenyans to elect the leadership of their choice.

"Beginning today, the meetings that we had postponed at Jacaranda Grounds will happen this Sunday, January 29," he said.

Among the leaders who were present at the Kamukunji rally are Martha Karua, Kalonzo Musyoka, George Wajackoyah and ODM leaders.
