DJ Fatxo Pens Public Letter After Clearance In Jeff Mwathi Death

Popular Mugithi singer Lawrence Njuguna, also known as DJ Fatxo, on Wednesday, May 17 penned a letter to his followers hours after being cleared of murder charges in Jeff Mwathi's death.

The musician used the opportunity in the letter to his fans, followers and the general public to address the allegations surrounding his involvement in Mwathi's mysterious demise.

He expressed his condolences to the family of the deceased and made himself aware of the emotional difficulties in the wake of the death of the interior designer.

Fatxo also used the letter to make it clear that he has been cleared of any charges preferred against him on the matter.

"First and foremost, I want to express my deepest sympathies to Jeff's family and friends, and to anyone else who has been affected by this situation. I know that this has been a difficult time for many people, and I want to acknowledge the pain and hurt that has been caused by these accusations.

"I also want to take this opportunity to clear my name and to assure you all that I have been found not guilty after thorough investigations by the DCI detectives and the ODPP. While I am relieved to have this behind me, I know that there are still people who may be struggling with feelings of anger, frustration, and disappointment," he wrote in part.

The entertainer further launched a thinly-veiled attack on Kenyans who were pointing fingers at him following the death of Mwathi, exposing instances whereby he was subject to cyberbullying on social media, something he said negatively affected him.

"I want to use this situation to remind all of us of the importance of not jumping to conclusions or cyberbullying anyone based on mere accusations or hearsay stories. 

"As many of you know, I have gone through a very difficult period both emotionally and physically, and I know firsthand how damaging and hurtful it can be to be on the receiving end of false accusations and cyberbullying," he added.

Fatxo resultantly called upon Kenyans to take time to think about their actions before jumping to unverified conclusions and allowing the authorities to do their work.

He further urged Kenyans to use the death saga as a learning and unity opportunity for the purpose of growing each other.

"Let's all take a moment to reflect on how we can be more compassionate, understanding, and respectful towards each other. I understand that this situation may have been difficult for some of you, and I want to encourage everyone to seek out the facts and approach this situation with an open mind and a compassionate heart. 

"Let's use this situation as an opportunity to come together, to learn from each other, and to grow as individuals and as a community," he went on.

He nonetheless thanked his fans for their continued support and understanding during the difficult time, adding that he was appreciative of each and every one of them.

The court ordered an inquest over the lack of sufficient evidence linking him to the probe of Mwathi's death.

The application for a public inquest was made in court by the Director of Criminal Investigations that established no evidence linking DJ Fatxo to the murder.
