The Jubilee Party has strongly accused Deputy President William Ruto's United Democratic Alliance (UDA) of rigging in 33 constituencies in the Mt Kenya region.

In its statement on Thursday evening, August 11 by Jubilee Secretary General, Jeremiah Kioni, the party rubbished UDA's 'Yellow Wave', adding that the August 9 elections process was compromised.

"For the record, let all and sundry know there was no "Yellow Wave" in the Mount Kenya region including other regions like Bungoma, Taita Taveta, and Kisii. These claims are far from the truth. There was no infrasound of the so-called wave, they say even dogs can smell a tsunami coming," Kioni stated.

"It is with great concern that the electoral process was highly compromised. We have learnt of massive subtle rigging scheme that took place in the 33 constituencies of Mount Kenya for the parliamentary elections."

The party added that it had received reports from its agents of "voter bribery, voter intimidation, displaying of UDA campaign materials within the precincts of polling centers, mishandling of Jubilee Party and Azimio party agents by the presiding officers by denying them access to the polling stations on time."

In a daring accusation, the party added that there were mismatches in terms of voter turnout in the Kenya Integrated Election Management System (KIEMS) kits and the number of "used ballot paper counterfoils."

"The voter turnout in the KIEMS kits did not tally with the number of used ballot paper counterfoils, lack of clarity on voter verification where the KIEMS kits failed. It is unbelievable that a candidate would lose in all polling stations, including where they vote," it added.

The party further announced that it would reveal its next move in the coming days.

UDA was yet to issue a statement about the accusations at the time of publication, given that it was shared on its social media platforms during the night hours.

Kioni had lost his bid to defend the Ndaragwa MP seat to George Gachagua.

"Great Ndaragwa, Thank you for the opportunity to serve you, it has been an honour. I accept the results with honour and contentment.

"Congratulations to the incoming MP Hon George Gachagua. My great appreciation to my family, staff, campaign team and Ndaragwa community," he stated on Wednesday, August 10.

DP Ruto's party had swept clean all the parliamentary seats in Kirinyaga County, the backyard of Azimio's running mate, Martha Karua. This is the humiliation that the Azimio la Umoja coalition was not expecting since it was tasked with wooing voters in a county of 610,411 people.

UDA candidates bagged the available parliamentary seats in Kirinyaga Central, Gichugu, Ndia and Mwea constituencies and among the candidates it beat, two came from Jubilee.

Mwea had Mary Maingi who beat incumbent Kabinga Wathayu of Jubilee, another newcomer among those across the country to have caused upsets.

In Kirinyaga Central, former MP Gachoki Gitari made a comeback on the UDA ticket after toppling the incumbent Munene Wambugu of Jubilee.
