Kenyans could soon have easier access to nine essential services from the Judiciary at Huduma Centres in a move tipped to consolidate more government services considered critical to Kenyans under one roof.

Huduma Kenya, in a notice on Wednesday, January 24, revealed that from January 29, Kenyans can access critical Judiciary services at their convenience.

“Starting January 29, 2024, Kenyans can now access nine essential judicial services conveniently from various Huduma Centres across the country. Your access to justice just got more accessible,” Huduma stated.

The services will be available at GPO Nairobi, City Square, Makadara, Kibra, Eastleigh, and Thika Huduma Centres.

The nine services include filing a new civil case, filing documents in an existing case, requesting and issuance of mention dates, General case inquiries, and virtual court support.

Kenyans will soon have the ability to request for issuance of summons to enter appearance, notice to appear in divorce cases, extract court orders, decrees, certified/uncertified proceedings, and copies of rulings and judgments.

In addition, Kenyans will be able to get assistance in e-filing support, open e-filing accounts, account recovery and re-setting, e-filling passwords, how to navigate the system and how to self-help using the Judiciary Public Information Kiosk.

Since being launched in 2013, Huduma Kenya has won multiple global awards for service delivery.

For instance, in 2015, Huduma clinched the  United Nations Public Service Award (UNPSA) in the category Improving the Delivery of Public Services which is touted as the most prestigious international recognition of excellence in public service delivery.

Pioneered by former Devolution and Planning Cabinet Secretary and current Kirinyaga Governor Anne Waiguru, Huduma Centre is a government programme aimed at streamlining and hastening the administration of services.

Huduma Centres offer more than 45 key government services including ID replacement, issuance of birth certificates and generation of National Hospital Insurance Fund (NHIF) and National Social Security Fund (NSSF) pins among several other services.

On December 5, 2022, Huduma Centre changed its working hours from the original 8.00 am to 5.00 pm to 12-hour operations. 18 different branches adopted the 7.00 am to 7.00 pm work schedule a day, terming it a first in Kenya's public service delivery.

The new opening and closing hours especially benefitted Kenyans who seek their services after 5.00 pm when most of them leave their workplaces.
