Embattled nominated Member of Parliament (MP) Sabina Chege on Friday, June 9 claimed that her sleek iPhone 14 was stolen during chaotic scenes in the National Assembly after the ruling by Speaker Moses Wetangula in which he retained her as Deputy Minority Whip.

She was speaking during the inaugural coffee conference in Meru County where Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua was in attendance, and whereby she was photographed wearing an arm sling a day after the incident occurred.

Chege appealed to DP Gachagua to intervene to salvage her woes while compelling the individual who may have made away with the expensive smartphone to return it.

“Apart from beating me, they proceeded to steal my phone. It is an iPhone 14, and your Excellency our DP Rigathi Gachagua, I request your intervention and support so that I can recover the phone.

"Those who stole the phone, please hand it back to me,” Chege appealed.

Viral Tea established through Google Image Reverse Search that the phone in question she claims was stolen in Parliament is an iPhone 14 Pro Max, currently worth up to Ksh263,000, depending on various phone shops.

iPhone 14 Pro Max Features

It is the latest flagship device in Apple's famed series of iPhones and was launched in September 2022. The iPhone 14 Pro Max is more powerful than its iPhone 14 Pro version and weighs heavier at 240 grams compared to the Pro's 206 grams.

It has a 6.7-inch display with rounded corners that follow a beautiful curved design, and these corners are within a standard rectangle. When measured as a standard rectangular shape, the screen is 6.69 inches diagonally (the actual viewable area is less).

The display is a Super Retina XDR OLED that refreshes at 120 Hz and has a resolution of 1284 x 2778 pixels. It comes with Dynamic Island, a new software system on iPhones featuring a design that blends the line between hardware and software, adapting in real-time to show important alerts, notifications, and activities.

With the introduction of Dynamic Island, the TrueDepth camera has been redesigned to take up less of the display area. Without impeding content on the screen, Dynamic Island maintains an active state to allow users easier access to controls with a simple tap-and-hold.

Ongoing background activities like Maps, Music, or a timer remain visible and interactive, and third-party apps in iOS 16 that provide information like sports scores and ride-sharing with Live Activities can take advantage of Dynamic Island.

The phone has a triple-camera setup that consists of 64 MP + 12 MP+ 12 MP and a 12 MP + SL 3D camera for selfies and Face ID.

The Pro Max runs on the Apple A16 Bionic (5 nm) chipset with Apple GPU (5-core graphics), 6GB of RAM, up to 1TB storage, and iOS 16. It is available in Space Black, Silver, Gold, and Deep Purple colours, and is powered by a 4323 mAh battery, which is non-removable.

In the aftermath of the Parliament chaos, National Assembly Majority Whip Sylvanus Osoro on Thursday, June 8 claimed that Sabina Chege was targeted by Suba North MP Millie Odhiambo after the ruling and tried to forcefully eject her from her seat as the Deputy Minority Whip.

This manifested into chaotic scenes which were not caught on camera within the House, and a fistfight that led to Chege allegedly being hit and injured with a bottle.
