Colonel Fabian Lengusuranga from the Kenya Army has been appointed as President William Ruto's new Aide-De-Camp.

Lengusuranga takes over from Timothy Lekolool who was promoted by former President Uhuru Kenyatta to Brigadier and deployed to the Department of Defence headquarters and served President Ruto during his first weeks as Head of State.

Lengusuranga's first assignment was accompanying the fifth president of Kenya to the burial of Jack Gachagua, Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua’s brother in Mathira, Nyeri County, according to photos seen by Viral Tea.

Brigadier Lekolool is however still part of Ruto's security as he was seen behind the President donning a bespoke (fitting) suit.

He could be seen apparently guiding his successor in performing his role, considered one of the most critical in the President's staff.

Lt. Colonel Damaris Agnetta from the Kenya Army will deputize the new ADC. Agnetta replaces Racheal Nduta Kamui who has been promoted to a full Colonel and deployed to the Department of Defence headquarters.

Col. Lengusuranga was commissioned in 1999. He is a seasoned and decorated military officer serving as a senior Special Forces branch commander.

Lt. Col. Damaris Agnetta was commissioned in 2003 and has been serving as an Artillery officer. She also served in the United Nations (UN) Observer Mission.

The ADC is a military officer who stands behind the President and Commander-In-Chief of the Kenya Defence Forces during official functions.

He (or she) receives gifts and other items on behalf of the president, escorts the President to waiting cars as well as ensures that the president’s seat at any function is properly set as he sits.

The ADC also carries the President’s personal items such as mobile phones and speeches when going to functions. He or she is also expected to provide advice and assistance to hosts of official functions on behalf of the President.

Military protocols reveal that every president is allowed the opportunity to pick his Aide de Camp who works closely with his Presidential Escort Unit Commander in charge of his security.
