President William Ruto on Tuesday, August 1 banned a woman from the Ministry of Roads & Transport from ever working in any other public office following allegations of corruption.

Speaking during the signing of the performance contracts at State House, Nairobi, Ruto ordered Transport Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen to see to it that the woman is kicked out and never allowed to hold any public office.

Ruto described the character of the official at the Transport ministry as one that rendered her untouchable in the period where some ministries in government had deep-rooted corrupt individuals who could not be taken action upon.

While claiming that the woman was corrupt to the core, Ruto lamented how attempts to transfer her were futile as she devised ways of keeping herself at the road department, including being reinstated into office occasionally whenever she was fired.

"There was one lady in the roads department who was corrupt to the core.

"To the extent that she could not be transferred by anybody, even by the minister, because if she was transferred she will go to court, buy the court process and make sure that she is returned. That is the kind of chronic where corruption has taken us," he said.

The President then directed CS Murkomen to see to it that the woman is out of office with finality and that she should never step foot into any other government position.

"I hope Mr Kipchumba Murkomen and Bwana Mbugua that the lady no longer works for the government of Kenya," the President said adding that there are people who have made the government their private property.

In the same address, he affirmed that he would protect public resources with zeal regretting that it has become a trend for some individuals to enter public office just to steal.

Ruto assured that he would deal with the signs of corruption in ministries on the spot as opposed to waiting for money to be lost, further firing a warning to state officers over corruption with the affirmation that it will not be tolerated.

"It will not be business as usual. I committed to the people of Kenya that there would be no money to steal. There is only money to deliver on the programs, projects, and aspirations of the people of Kenya," he said.

“We will not wait until when money is lost. We will deal with it from the level when we notice its signs."

Ruto reiterated his commitment to keeping his promises made during the pre-election campaign, vowing not to renege on any promises he made during that period.

"A political culture of poor promise-keeping, as well as endemic corruption, has done significant damage to our social fabric by eroding trust in government and widening the rift that separates citizens' aspirations from government policy.

"We cannot wait and see where this road may lead. It is time it comes to an end," Ruto said.
