Nairobi Governor Johnson Sakaja has unveiled his County Executive Committee (CEC) members who are 10 in number.

During a press briefing on Wednesday, October 26, Sakaja named his Cabinet structure and those nominated will be presented to the county assembly of Nairobi for vetting and approval.

The list was submitted to the Speaker of the County Assembly in a letter dated October 26, 2022. Sakaja noted that the team was carefully chosen and are competent.

Nairobi County has 10 executive members. They include one in charge of Finance and Economic Planning, Health, ICT and E-government, Devolution, Environment and Water, Agriculture, Trade, Roads and Transport, Education and Lands and Housing departments.

The county boss named the following members into his CEC:

  1. Charles Kerich (Finance and Economic Affairs)
  2. Brian Mulama (Talents, Skills, Development and Care)
  3. Patrick Mbogo (Mobility and Works).
  4. Former Chief Officer, Lands, Stephen Mwangi (Built Environment and Urban Planning)
  5. Ibrahim Auma (Boroughs Administration and Personnel)
  6. Rosemary Kariuki (Business and Hustler Opportunities)
  7. Maureen Njeri (Green Nairobi)
  8. Anastacia Mutethia (Health, wellness and nutrition)
  9. Suzanne Silantoi will be in charge of inclusivity, public participation and customer service.
  10. Michael Gumo (Innovation and Digital Economy)

Sakaja also named David Njoroge as his Chief Of Staff, Lawrence Wambua as his Economic Affairs Advisor and Elias Mutuma as his Legal Advisor.

Others include Dr Samora Otieno (Health Advisor), William Ndung’u ‘Fazul’ (Political Advisor) and Prof. Washington Yotto Ochieng as his Mobility Advisor.

Sakaja sent home all the members of the executive who served in the administration of his predecessor, Anne Kananu, except two.

The CEC nominees will be vetted by the select committee of appointment. Sakaja urged the Assembly to take the shortest time possible to vet and approve his team so that they can embark to deliver services to the residents.

"Things will not change in a day or two but we will work every single day to improve the lives of Nairobians," Sakaja promised.

During an interview with Radio Citizen earlier on Wednesday, Sakaja noted that he has already started implementing some of the promises he made before his swearing-in on August 25 and some of his proposed projects are already underway.

Other plans that he said his administration has rolled out include reforming the county transport and healthcare systems.

“We’ve already started working, for instance, the garbage menace that we found, we have already collected 82 tonnes of garbage in the last one month. Gitanga road, Jogoo road… and we were doing this without a budget because the MCAs are yet to approve it,” he said.

“We’ve reinstated some matatus on the road, I have put in place a healthcare task force. There are 22 roads that I am re-carpeting and the good thing is that I understand the system. I am not new to this, I have been a Nairobi senator and I’m born in Pangani, so I don’t need months of induction."
