Renowned news anchor, Victoria Rubadiri has left Citizen TV under the Royal Media Services (RMS) and is set to join the Cable News Network (CNN).

Her last bulletin to present at the Dennis Pritt Road-based media house would be the Sunday Live this Sunday, April 28, before she heads off to the international media house with its headquarters in Atlanta, Georgia, United States (US).

Reports indicate that she is set to join CNN as Africa's correspondent. Ironically, this would see her reunite with Larry Madowo, who was her old partner while they were at NTV. Madowo is currently CNN's international correspondent.

She hosted several shows including Citizen Weekend on Saturdays, where she gave prominence to many issues especially those touching on social norms and culture.

She also hosted Sunday Live every Sunday with acclaimed journalist, Jeff Koinange, a show that has also featured some of the country's biggest televised stories.

Throughout her career, Rubadiri has become one of the most sought-after journalists for her ability to tell compelling stories.

In 2020, she won the BBC World News Komla Dumor Award, allowing her to attend a training course with the BBC Academy and join the News team for three months.

Among her notable features included 'Wombs of Sorrow' which highlighted the experiences of women who suffered from cervical cancer.

Before joining Citizen TV in 2018, she climbed through the Nation Media Group (NMG) ranks, hosting the NTV Weekend Edition alongside Madowo.

In 2009, the journalist graduated with a Bachelors Degree in Broadcast Journalism at Temple University in Philadelphia.

Besides media, she has moderated high-level discussions of regional and continental importance in the past. One of the notable functions included the East African Business Council Summit in Arusha which hosted six presidents and the launch of the Africa CDC continental event-based surveillance (EBS) framework in 2023.

Rubadiri's exit from RMS marks another instance of senior journalists leaving the media house for greener pastures, from Waihiga Mwaura, Chemutai Goin, Hassan Mugambi and Bernard Ndong, just to name a few.
