Detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) based in Kayole, Nairobi are appealing to Kenyans to provide information that may aid in the arrest of a 35-year-old woman.

Mary Mwende Kimwalu is the prime suspect in a shocking attempted murder case. She allegedly stabbed her ex-boyfriend, inflicting three horrific stab wounds in the chest, following a heated argument in Mihang'o Estate, Kayole, on April 22, 2023.

The victim was left to recover from his physical and emotional wounds, while detectives were left grappling with Mwende's disappearance.

"In the case, Mary Mwende reportedly stabbed her ex-boyfriend three times on the chest using a kitchen knife, after a tiff that sundered their once dazzling love. After the heinous attack, she went underground, carefully effacing the track behind her," stated the DCI in part.

The woman went to a further extent of cutting communication with her family and known friends and has been avoiding places she previously frequented hence paralyzing efforts by the detectives to bring her to justice.

DCI however allayed fears that Mwende might have fled the country, even though authorities in other agencies have been put on high alert.

"The Immigration Department confirms that she has not exited the country, and a warrant of arrest issued against her on May 13, 2024, is in force.

"Records of the suspect held at the National Registration Bureau indicate that she hails from Ikutha in Kitui Central, at the Kyoani sub-location," added the DCI.

The investigative agency shared photos of the suspect availed to the police by the family, who are also desperate to know the whereabouts of their kin.

DCI urged Kenyans to provide information through the below channels regarding her location which would speed up plans to arrest her.

"Do you know her? Have you seen her? Do you have any information that could assist in her arrest? Please report to any police station, DCI office or #FichuakwaDCI by calling our toll-free hotline number 0800 722 203 any time 24/7," added the DCI.

The cause of the heated argument that led to Mwende committing the heinous act was yet to be established.

Furthermore, the DCI has yet to issue an update regarding their manhunt for the suspect by the time of publication.
