Numerous social media reports have been awash recently of drivers notorious for refuelling their cars and speeding off petrol stations without settling the bill.

On Thursday, February 9, a driver owning an Audi sedan was captured on CCTV fleeing from a Shell Petrol Station in Karen without paying the bill, the second time he has been caught in the act.

Road Safety agency Sikikia Road Safety called upon the police to take stern action on the young man, who found himself in similar circumstances when he had made away with yet another bill four days prior at a petrol station in Kikuyu.

Sikika noted that the driver’s parents had stepped in to settle a Ksh8,000 bill after he was exposed for the first time.

The Audi young man has stolen fuel worth Ksh7,000 again. National Police Service (NPS) arrest this young man on a serious note and let him pay double. Just the other day his parents settled a bill for him after driving away without paying," read a statement.

The Audi driver had reportedly driven to the petrol station in Kerarapon, Karen and drove off without paying for the Ksh7,000 fuel he filled.

CCTV cameras at the petrol station captured the vehicle's identity, thus aiding management to report the matter to Karen Police Station.

Kenyans on social media were surprised that the Audi driver was partaking in such hide-and-seek games in a petrol station in the wake of similar rising cases.

On January 5, a motorist escaped without paying Ksh12,000 for fuel in Imara Daima as well as Jogoo road where it was reported that the driver of the mark X car model drove to the station and asked the petrol attendant to fuel

Immediately after, the motorist drove away leaving the attendant in shock and disbelief due to the bill which was left not knowing what to do.

Just like the rest, CCTV footage was shared as the attendant lodged a complaint at the Imara Daima police station.

Another motorist had driven off from a station along Jogoo road after pumping Kshs 10,000. However, after the incident went viral on social media platforms, the motorist accepted to settle the bill.

A Nairobi driver of an expensive Land Rover Discovery car was exposed last week after he went to a petrol station to buy fuel worth Ksh10,000 only to speed off without paying.

"People should understand that everyone is having a difficult time as the economic crisis increase, therefore, they should pay and government should also look at these things before they get worse." Peter Nguru stated on Facebook.
