Bus Company Given 24 Hours To Respond After Woman Sexually Assaulted & Robbed
Orwoba emphasised that the incident raises major concerns about the safety of passengers using the bus service

Nominated Senator Gloria Orwoba has called on Mash Poa bus company to provide an incident report following allegations that a woman was drugged, robbed, and sexually assaulted on one of its buses headed to Mombasa last week.
In a letter addressed to the company’s manager and dated Monday, April 21, the senator insisted that the report should outline the steps taken by both staff and management in response to the incident.
Orwoba has given the company until the end of Tuesday, April 22, to submit the report to her.
"Given the gravity of the situation, I urge you to prioritise this matter and provide a full incident report detailing the events as they transpired, including any actions taken by your staff and management in response to the incident," she stated.

"Please submit the requested report to my attention by the close of business on Tuesday, 22nd April. I trust that you will treat this request with the urgency and seriousness it demands. I look forward to your swift response."
"As you may be aware, Ms Omondi (victim) was reportedly drugged, robbed, and sexually assaulted while travelling on your service. This shocking event raises serious concerns about passenger safety and the protocols in place to protect individuals travelling with your company," she stated.
On her official social media accounts, the victim recounted that she was drugged by a fellow passenger during her trip from Nairobi to Mombasa on Monday, April 14. She said the man, whom she described as middle-aged, handed her two cups of tea to hold, shortly after which she blacked out.
She later regained consciousness at Coast General Hospital, where she was told she had been brought in by a Mash Poa conductor and a boda boda rider.
The woman further claimed that Mash Poa refused to provide her with any information about the man who allegedly drugged her. She also alleged that Coast General Hospital declined to open a case file for her.
According to her, she was missing some of the clothes she had been wearing, along with personal items, including her phone and cash, which she believes were stolen.
"This is a bus company I have used diligently since I moved to Diani, almost three times a month. Most of the Nairobi team knows me by name," she stated.
"I need an explanation of how I woke up in the hospital without some clothes, yet I had them when I boarded the bus. I am losing it because I don't have answers, and all I'm getting from Mash is We don't know."
Mash Poa had yet to issue an official statement on the matter by the time of going to press.
