Edwin Chiloba Murder: Woes Pile Up For Suspect Jackton Odhiambo

Jackton Odhiambo, the main suspect in the killing of LGBTQ activist Edwin Chiloba will be charged with murder.
Reports indicated that police told an Eldoret Court on Tuesday, January 31 that Odhiambo would be treated as the main link to the murder.
Senior Principal Richard Odenyo directed that Odhiambo face murder charges at the High Court. He was immediately arraigned there to face murder charges.
However, four suspects who were linked to the murder were set free after the prosecution told the court that they had no evidence to charge the accused with the murder.
Among them was popular TikToker using the online moniker Junior Litali, whose real name is Dennis Litali, after the probe established that he had no links to Chiloba's final moments.
Three others who were released were instructed to report to investigating officers every month for three months.
The bodybuilding champion is a celebrity in his own right and has amassed a huge following on social media. Litali, who was Mr Uasin Gishu 2017 and is also 2nd runners up for East African bodybuilding 2022, had initially told senior resident magistrate Richard Odenyo on Tuesday, January 10 that his arrest was a cover-up by police.
He had challenged an application made by Eldoret South DCI Chief Inspector Stephen Mumba to detain him for 21 days, terming it too long.
“All these people being held with me as suspects are strangers that I have never met. Detaining me for three weeks will subject my young family to a lot of suffering and anguish,” Litali said.
The court, however, ignored the plea and allowed police to detain the suspect for 21 days.
Odhiambo at the same time issued a plea in court to release him on bond to cater to his family, which was denied as the judge allowed detectives to detain him until investigations concluded.
According to Langas OCPD John Odhiambo, Jackton alongside his friends had plotted to execute Chiloba as a means of revenge after Chiloba cheated on him.
Jackton was with Chiloba partying at a club in an undisclosed location with the same clothes he wore when his body was discovered. A few hours later, a disagreement would ensue, leaving the gay activist dead.
