Jackton Odhiambo, the main suspect in the gruesome murder of LGBTQ activist and model Edwin Chiloba, has confessed to killing him.

A report by Citizen TV on Saturday, January 7 revealed that Jackton was driven to kill Chiloba, his best friend, after discovering that Chiloba had another partner, in what has suddenly turned into a love triangle gone sour.

According to Langas OCPD John Odhiambo, Jackton alongside his friends had plotted to execute Chiloba as a means of revenge after Chiloba cheated on him.

Jackton was with Chiloba partying at a club in an undisclosed location with the same clothes he wore when his body was discovered. A few hours later, a disagreement would ensue, leaving the gay activist dead.

The two then retired to their apartment in Eldoret where they had been staying for a period of one year. Neighbours had disclosed that they had a quarrel that then escalated into a physical fight.

Jackton would later stuff Chiloba's body in a metallic box and dump it 20 kilometres away from the residence.

Chiloba’s caretaker Alex Nyamwea had disclosed that Jackton called him using Chiloba’s phone on Wednesday, January 4 informing him that he was vacating the house they lived in, adding that he had found another residence.

"I came, I was in a hurry, and gave him the key to the gate," Nyamwea disclosed.

He added that Jackton continued to use the deceased's phone, perhaps to give a false impression that all was well. This is as neighbours expressed shock at the turn of the events with no indication given that there was bad blood between the two.

After Jackton was arrested by officers from the Directorate of Criminal Investigation (DCI) Eldoret who treated him as the prime suspect, police shifted their attention to a vehicle used by the culprits to ferry the body of the late Chiloba to the scene where they dumped him. He will be arraigned as soon as the investigations are complete.

The caretaker, while giving his account of the murder, previously revealed that Jackton was spotted with a metal box in which the body was stuffed following the gruesome killing.

"I called the OCS who asked me to show up today. I met with his friends at the station. They said the box they saw in the house was the one that came down at night. They saw it clearly. The one who had carried was Jackton, according to what they shared with me," the caretaker told the human rights activists following up on the matter.

Police had positively identified Chiloba after discovering his lifeless body stuffed in a metallic box along the Kipenyo-Katinga Road in Uasin Gishu County.
