US-based Kenyan comedienne and internet sensation Elsa Majimbo on Wednesday, July 5 claimed to have ventured into philanthropy by ordering her management to drain her bank account.

Through a video posted on her Tiktok page, Majimbo alleged that she had instructed her managers to donate all her money to a noble cause.

The 22-year-old sensation expressed her desire to give back to society and share her success with others, further revealing that despite her considerable earnings, she felt compelled to give back to the needy rather than keep the money to herself.

According to her, she was unable to justify earning Ksh70.4 million ($500,000) yet there were those struggling to make ends meet in an economy ravaged by the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020.

"About a year ago, I would say a little over a year ago, I asked my manager and my business manager to drain all the money in my bank account and give it to people who needed it more than I do.

"My reasoning was as a 20-year-old I couldn't justify earning half a million dollars (it's on Forbes this is public information). I couldn't justify that, I just didn't need that kind of money to support my lifestyle," Majimbo said.

However, she clarified that her act of kindness did not mean that she was stripping herself of the luxuries that came with her celebrity status across social media.

"And don't get me wrong, I do not deprive myself of luxuries. I fly first class, I like a nice Gucci bag, I love all that but still, there is more left.

"And if I have been- so blessed why not bless other people? And you know when I came to this decision they were telling me like 'You've earned it, you are so talented, you are so deserving' but other people are talented too why aren't they in my position? Other people are deserving too to be in the position I am today," she added.

Grateful for her own success, Elsa acknowledged her blessings and expressed her desire for them to impact the lives of others positively.

While she hopes to continue earning and achieving even more, she believes in the power of sharing her blessings with those in need.

"I am so grateful for everything I have guys, every single day I wake up and I thank God for everything I have. I have been so blessed wow. I have been so incredibly blessed and I want my blessings to bless other people and I hope and pray that is something I stick by until the day I die - making someone's life a little bit better because mine was made so much better," she said.

Majimbo went viral across the globe in 2020 thanks to her crisp-eating satire shared on Tiktok and Instagram while still a journalism student at Strathmore University.

Since then, she has been featured in Forbes Africa Magazine's Top 30 Under 30 and has been featured by scores of international media houses such as CNN which interviewed her.

She was nominated for the E! People’s Choice awards and was named Forbes Woman Africa Entertainer of the Year 2021.

Majimbo amassed partnerships aplenty with fashion companies Mac, Valentino and Fenty by Rihanna as well as a magazine feature by Vogue and a deal with Beyoncé.

She first became friends with acclaimed Kenya-based British supermodel Naomi Campbell before roping Barbadian billionaire singer Rihanna, which led to the bumper endorsement deal with Fenty.
