Ex-Raila's Chief Agent Declares Presidential Bid 4 Years Early
Kanchory announced that he would take his first stab at the highest seat in the land, setting his sights on dethroning President William Ruto

Saitabao Ole Kanchory, the former Chief Agent for the Azimio La Umoja leader, Raila Odinga, announced that he would run for the presidency in the 2027 general elections, exactly one year since Kenyans took to the polls.
In a statement on Twitter, Kanchory on Wednesday, August 9 revisited the 2022 general elections which he believed had promises for a new country that were yet to be realised.
He then announced that he would take his first stab at the highest seat in the land, setting his sights on dethroning President William Ruto who was resoundingly elected last year over Kanchory's former boss, Raila.
"Fellow Kenyans, it's exactly 1 year since we went to the polls all hoping for a new and better Kenya. That promise and many many more remain unfulfilled.

"The next election is 4 short years away and since the campaigns have started (or never stopped), let me take this early opportunity to answer your call for me and other courageous young leaders to rescue our country from the wicked grip of political deception, conmanship and corruption that cuts across the current political divide," he wrote in part.
Kanchory shared a campaign poster prepared four years in advance which included the hashtag #SaitabaoThe6th. Notably, he did not reveal which party he was going to vie under.
"If we are tired of the same old fake folks, faces and stories, let's make 2027 the year of true change and a new dawn. Now you have a reason to vote on 10th August 2027," he added.
Kanchory was Raila's ardent supporter ahead of the 2022 August Polls and was even tasked with guarding his votes. However, the former Prime Minister lost for the fifth time in a row.
Speaking in an NTV expose dubbed How Raila Lost aired on Monday, December 12, 2022, Kanchory revealed the roles of three individuals; Suna East Member of Parliament Junet Mohammed, Azimio Secretariat Spokesperson Makau Mutua and former Information, Communication and Technology Cabinet Secretary Joe Mucheru in Raila's fifth consecutive election loss.
“Junet Mohammed is one man who purported to know everything and he nullified everything anyone said he also kept the people who could have helped Raila at arm's length,” Kanchory described Junet's role.
“Joe Mucheru succeeded in sabotaging the agent management system including the basic things, he, for instance, ensured that everybody who had a role in the agent management system was his people, people typing the names were his people and they were under instructions not to deliver,” Kanchory noted on Mucheru's role.
On Professor Makau Mutua, Kanchory said he brushed everything wrong and right aside without paying any attention to details.
“It is on record, 99.96% of polling stations transmitted their results, it is also on record there was full uninterrupted media coverage of the elections and the supreme court proceedings media and connectivity for result transmission were my only national responsibilities and of course, I actually voted in Ngatha nursery school in Nyeri’s Thegu River Ward,” Mucheru said in denial to Kanchory's allegations.
President Ruto emerged victorious in the polls and later on at the Supreme Court where Raila moved to petition the results.
