"I am here to ensure that you are engaged, informed and empowered. Thank you so much for welcoming me into your homes, let's get the headlines," she announced.

Speaking to Viral Tea, Odida lauded the experience of working at TV47, a station she revealed she had joined two weeks prior.

KUTV on their part released a couple of videos on their social media platforms of her former colleagues throwing a farewell party for her as well as sharing their messages of appreciation for Odida and encouragement for her as she commenced her next journey.

"At KUTV, we have created a culture of love. We are very proud of Anne Odida and definitely proud of the impact she has had on the team.

"Indeed we continue to pride ourselves in producing the greatest talents in this industry. Stay tuned for even greater and bigger reveals," the station wrote.

Odida had been at KUTV since 2021 where she held multiple roles, starting with a television news reporter and then a health, human rights and business reporter, a news reporter and a news anchor.

She holds a degree in journalism and mass communication from the Technical University of Kenya (TUK) and ran her blog site while she was in campus.

"I have a passion for human rights stories not limited to any facet known to news. I write all news-related articles from food security, politics, health, to education. I'm passionate about telling stories from Africa to the world," she states on her LinkedIn bio, adding "Anne Odida is also proficient in spoken and written dholuo."

Cape Media has been on a charm offensive, poaching star journalists from rival media houses in its bid to establish itself among the mainstream media players in Kenya.

On Friday evening, March 22, the media house recruited popular radio host Steve Jacob Maunda alias Shatta Bway from Royal Media Services (RMS) as its Director of Projects and Strategy. He will be serving in the role for both TV47 and Maybet, which is run by the media organisation.

Launched in 2019, TV47 has seen tremendous growth in its audience and influence over the years, thanks to unique content and programming, in the spirit of its motto - 'The Home of Untold Stories'.

Both TV47 and its sibling, Radio 47 made headlines owing to the tremendous number of high-wattage recruitments in terms of journalists in a bid to dethrone established players such as the Nation Media Group (NMG), Standard Group Limited and even RMS.
