Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua on Wednesday, January 25 hosted Members of the County Assembly (MCA) from the Jubilee Party at his Harambee House Annex office in Nairobi.

The MCAs were drawn from Nairobi County and they included Anthony Kimemia, Cyrus Mugo, Wanjiku Kariuki, Mbatia Robert, Kamau (Biu ni Biu) and Karani.

While reiterating his mission to deliver on the promises made by the Kenya Kwanza government under President William Ruto, Gachagua stated that the purpose of the meeting was to discuss priority areas of development.

He also reminded elected leaders to contribute towards actualising the plan by the current regime.

"Delivering the Kenya Kwanza Plan is at the heart of H.E President William Samoei Ruto's Administration.  It is for this reason that today, I hosted Nairobi County MCAs from our former Jubilee Party, who had paid me a courtesy call at Harambee House Annex.

"We discussed cross-cutting priority areas of development and representation. Elections are behind us. It is time to deliver; all leaders must strive to work together towards this goal," he stated.

The meeting comes nearly a week after he hosted Kericho County MCAs allied to the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) at his office in a bid to end the standoff between them which was criticised by President Ruto. It was during the meeting that Gachagua made sweeping changes to the Kericho County Assembly's UDA leadership.

In the changes, Philip Rono, who was the Kamasian Ward representative, was reinstated as the Majority Leader and will be deputized by Francis Chepkorir.

Bavina Serem retained her position as the deputy chief whip while Haroun Rotich of Cheptororiet was announced as Majority Whip in place of Kapsuser MCA Peter Kemboi.

The changes came after a five-hour intense meeting chaired by DP Gachagua, which was also attended by Kericho Governor Eric Mutai and the assembly leadership list previously submitted by the UDA party was adopted.

"All leaders present here today have unanimously agreed they will resolve all the stifling issues and restore peace and normalcy in Kericho," said the DP.

"The issue of leadership has subsequently been resolved to the satisfaction of everyone...the results have also been accepted by all persons."

Gachagua also used the press briefing that followed the meeting to fire a warning shot to the Kericho County Assembly Speaker Patrick Mutai and all the other county assembly speakers that they will be thrown out of their positions if they defy orders by the UDA party.

While noting that the party found that the fights in the Kericho County Assembly were caused by a tussle for leadership, Gachagua urged all UDA elected leaders from across the country to desist from engaging in similar fights.
