Garissa’s Jarajila Ward Member of County Assembly (MCA), Noor Sheikh, has issued a public apology after he was captured in a viral CCTV clip brandishing a knife and chasing people in a restaurant.
How it began: The bizarre incident, in the video seen by Viral Tea, showed the MCA storming the eating premises armed with a knife after a group of women fled inside in fear that the man would harm them.

The confrontation quickly sparked panic and chaos, as the CCTV footage shows both staff and customers scrambling for safety. At one point, a minor stampede broke out near the restaurant's entrance as people rushed to escape the scene.
Despite the mayhem, the MCA seemed unfazed, continuing to wreak havoc by hurling chairs around the restaurant. He eventually paused his outburst, walked into the kitchen, gave an unexpected salute to a group of people, and then exited the premises, still gripping the knife.
The incident, which unfolded at Albeik Hotel in Garissa, has since sparked outrage. Now, Noor is speaking out, stating that he has had time to think about what happened and wants to address the community, especially those who witnessed it firsthand or saw the footage.
According to him, the outburst was a reaction in self-defence after allegedly being threatened by two people just moments before.
Noor claims the incident started with a dispute in the restaurant’s parking lot, which then spiralled out of control inside the building. While he insists he was provoked, he has still decided to issue an apology for his actions.
"I'm now apologising to the people and the customers. It was not in bad intention; I was only defending myself..." he stated.
The MCA, who claims to have served in the military for 27 years, described himself as a disciplined person with an untarnished record.
Police have since launched an investigation into the incident. The lawmaker has already given a statement, and authorities have gathered CCTV footage and witness testimonies as part of the ongoing inquiry.
