An autopsy conducted on the body of Naneu Muthoni, who was found dead in Lang'ata, Nairobi County, revealed on Wednesday, November 16 that she died due to traumatic brain injury.

The post-mortem exercise conducted by Chief Government pathologist Dr. Johansen Oduor further noted that the 31-year-old was beaten severally with a blunt object and a sharp object penetrated her head.

Dr Oduor added that multiple injuries on the body of Muthoni were consistent with an assault.

Muthoni's missing boyfriend identified as Thomas Mbugua Muthee was not at the crime scene and was well known to her parents. He was last seen on Saturday, November 12, with detectives launching a manhunt for him after treating him as the main suspect in the gruesome murder.

The grief-stricken family, still digesting the sad turn of events surrounding their last-born daughter, urged the suspect to surrender himself to the police. A wanted poster was circulated across social media platforms with Kenyans urged to report to the nearest police station on spotting him.

Muthoni was reported to have visited the suspect on Friday, November 11, just metres from her house. She went missing but was found dead on Monday, November 14, with her badly wounded body lying in the suspect’s house while covered with a bed sheet.

Muthoni's parents disclosed that she was cheerful when she left their home in the Southlands estate area of Langata to visit her boyfriend in the Onyonka estate.

The two were in a relationship for one year, despite numerous calls by her mother to terminate it on the basis of red flags in the union majoring on being physically assaulted on several occasions.

"It has not been a very steady relationship, and I have tried severally to discourage her but I don't know how she keeps going back. One time she had a red eye when I asked her what was wrong with the eye, she said some shampoo entered her eye," the mother unfortunately recalled.

Muthoni had always downplayed the situation and despite calls to end the union, she still continued with the rocky relationship. This saw her walk away several times but went back to her boyfriend, breaking her pledge to never return.

The mother added that during Muthoni's final trip to Onyonka estate, the two had not seen each other for three weeks following differences in their relationship.

She had pleaded with the mother to let her visit his house, a request the mother agreed to, not knowing that this would be the last time she would see her daughter.

The mother tried to frantically reach out to her for two days and discovered that her phone was switched off during her second attempt. It was then that she drove to her boyfriend's house and found police officers, and eventually her dead body.
