"I do not take for granted the tireless support, believe and respect I receive from the distinguished Kenyan Youth. I dedicate this award to every Patriotic Kenyan Youth and every Pan-African-hearted and minded African youth.

"We cast a stone in the Ocean and create ripples of change across the Ocean. We do not talk of Emancipation when half the Society is held in silence and when some voices do not matter," she stated.

Hezena appealed to African Leaders to provide a platform where women and the youth can contribute to the overall growth and success of the economy of their countries.

"We also do not talk of Emancipation when more than half of our population is comprised of consumers and then we complain of low GDP for a continent that has a huge potential.

"I call on all fellow African Leaders to ensure that the Youth and Women contribute to the Overall GDP of our Countries. Consequently, we can eradicate Poverty in the Mother Continent," she added.

The distinguished senator was awarded for being renowned as a committed advocate for peace and youth leadership while also serving as a passionate promoter of women's empowerment and gender equality.

She is the visionary founder of Pastoralists Sports, impacting lives through goodwill, culture and charitable endeavours across the Commonwealth and Africa.

Hezena was born and bred in Samburu County and attended Milimani Primary School in Maralal. She later enrolled at St. Theresa Girls High School where she excelled in her secondary school education and was admitted to the University of Nairobi (UoN).

The outspoken Samburu lady is the reigning Miss Commonwealth Kenya and became the first from the North to win the crown.

She is also the Global Peace Ambassador, A Goodwill, Culture, and Charity Ambassador for the Commonwealth and the Rift Valley Peace Champion being the founder of Pastoralists Sports Initiative which economically empowers the youth through sports and culture to create peace and cohesion.

Hezena had in 2022 dropped her ambitions for the Samburu County Woman Representative seat during the August 9 General Elections following extensive consultations with Azimio la Umoja coalition presidential candidate, Raila Odinga and elders from her community.

However, she would bounce back by being nominated to the Senate by the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) to represent the youth alongside Fikirini Katoi Kahindi, who was picked as the male representative.
