Hiding To Avoid Arrest: Police On Viral Video Of Juja MP Koimburi Being Found
NPS responded to a viral video which made rounds online and in sections of the media, which allegedly showed Koimburi motionless after he was abandoned at a farm in Juja.

The National Police Service (NPS) has denied reports that Juja Member of Parliament (MP) George Koimburi was abducted, instead claiming that he intentionally avoided arrest over an active land fraud case.
NPS on Monday, May 26, responded to a viral video which made rounds online and in sections of the media, which allegedly showed Koimburi motionless after he was abandoned at a farm in Juja.
According to police, Koimburi went into hiding after finding out that authorities were set to arrest him on Friday, May 23, after getting the green light from the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (ODPP) to move forward with the case.
"The MP has been under investigation for a land fraud matter, and consent to prosecute was issued by the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (ODPP).

"On Friday, 23rd May, the MP, fully aware of the police's intention to arrest him, evaded a dragnet operation, duped officers by escaping on a motorcycle alongside his private security, and switched off his mobile phone," the police responded in a statement.
The NPS stated that Koimburi had been off the radar until Monday morning, when he reappeared as reports of his alleged abduction surfaced.
Police from Juja Police Station visited the location where the MP was reportedly discovered, and the area has been formally documented.
In the meantime, the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) has begun a more in-depth investigation into the incident.
"Police from Juja visited the alleged scene, and the area was properly documented. Meanwhile, a special team from DCI headquarters is analysing the purported abduction video and all circumstances surrounding these allegations to conclusively establish the truth," the statement continued.
