Hot 96 radio presenter and Head of Radio, Cynthia Mwangi, is now testing her mettle on the silver screen.

Taking to her Instagram account on Thursday, September 15, Mwangi announced that she will be featuring on a new show dubbed 'Behind the Mic'.

The show that will run every Friday through the Citizen Digital mobile application will see her interview some of Kenya's most popular media personalities, some of whom work alongside her at Royal Media Services (RMS).

According to the promo video, fans should expect the likes of Lillian Muli and Stephen Letoo as they share the stories of their humble beginnings, stories of success, betrayal and other tales that happen behind the scenes of the personalities on TV and radio stations.

Watch the video:

"I’ve been working on this project for a couple of months now, and I’m glad it’s finally ready to roll out. Humbled to share these phenomenal stories of my friends, my colleagues, and my seniors.

"Catch these riveting stories of your favourite media personalities on Behind the Mic, with me, Cynthia Mwangi Every Friday, on the Citizen Digital app," she captioned.

Besides being the Head of Radio at Hot 96, a radio host, and a content producer, Mwangi is also a Public Relations (PR) consultant and a Life coach. She had also launched a ‘Living by Design’ podcast that features on the Citizen Digital platform and across platforms such as Spotify.

"Living by Design podcast encompasses stories from people who’ve chosen to be bold, live, and to be deliberate. With life to love, to marriage, business, kids, friendships, you name it. Because we all walk that journey.

"The truth is Nothing is picture-perfect, nothing is immaculate and straight to the point. No, our lives are messy for the most part, everyone is lowkey winging it, yet we wake up every morning ready to do win at life. And for that reason, welcome to Authentic, Raw Stories. To inspire you, to remind you that it’s okay if you haven’t figured it out yet, to encourage you," reads the podcast description.

Like most pioneer media students in many learning institutions, Mwangi had narrated that she underwent theoretical training at the Multimedia University, which led to her six-month internship training at RMS, Hot 96 being the only station she had wanted to intern at.

She found herself behind the scenes as a producer for a Swahili radio station (Radio Citizen) and a vernacular station (Mulembe FM), her first real experience in a production studio. She was successful, having emerged as one of the most promising interns.

"As a content producer, I have served as part of the best Swahili Afternoon Shows, Mambo Mseto with Willy M Tuva on Radio Citizen, produced one of the most listened/watched breakfast shows on English Radio, Hot Breakfast which was then hosted by Jeff and Jalas. What I love about content production is the ability to bring ideas to life which remains one of my biggest assets and strengths," she revealed in a #KenyaWomenSeries feature in 2021, which was published by Viral Tea.

Mwangi, apart from being Hot 96's Head of Radio, also hosts the Saturday morning show ‘The Morning After' every Saturday from 6 am to 10 am.
