KeNHA Warns Motorists Along Thika Road Of 5-Day Partial Closure
This comes amidst a series of closures due to constructions on major roads in and around Nairobi that will all affect traffic flow.

The Kenya National Highway Authority (KeNHA) on Friday, December 6 announced that part of the Thika Superhighway (Thika Road) will be closed for five days.
According to KeNHA, the section located at Juja Highpoint, commonly referred to as Centurion, will be closed between Thursday, December 12, and Tuesday, December 17 from 11 pm to 6 am. This will allow for the construction of a footbridge.
"The Kenya National Highways Authority (KeNHA) would like to inform the public that Thika Superhighway shall be partially closed at Juja Highpoint (Centurion) to enable the construction of the footbridge from Thursday, December 12, 2024, to Tuesday, December 17, 2024, between 2300hrs to 0600hrs," announced KeNHA in a notice.

This means that motorists travelling to Kenya's capital, Nairobi, will have to use a diversion behind Lexo petrol station before rejoining back to the Superhighway.
Similarly, motorists heading to Thika will use a diversion behind Centurion Hotel before rejoining back to the Superhighway.
"Motorists are requested to exercise caution around the work areas, to follow the proposed traffic management plan below and cooperate with the police and traffic marshals on site," added the notice.
This comes amidst a series of closures due to constructions on major roads in and around Nairobi that will all affect traffic flow.
On Saturday, November 23, KeNHA announced the temporary closure of the Uhuru Highway at the Haile Sellasie roundabout for 51 days due to scheduled road works for the construction of the pedestrian underpass at the section of the road.
According to the authority, the construction works would commence next week, Thursday to Friday, January 17, 2025.
Motorists plying the route were urged to follow the proposed traffic management plan, project road signs, and cooperate with police and traffic marshals who will be on the site to control the traffic.
Last month, the highways authority warned of a one-month closure of part of the Nairobi-Nakuru Highway linking the Southern and Western Bypass. KeNHA revealed the disruption was due to the ongoing roadworks for the construction of the right-hand side carriageway linking the two roads.
As a result of the scheduled road works, the Highways Authority disclosed traffic along the aforementioned roads would be disrupted for up to a month from Tuesday, November 19 to December 19.
Governor Johnson Sakaja on Friday, November 15 revealed that major roads in the city are set for rehabilitation and construction works in the coming weeks. "Some are classified as National while others are County calling for close collaboration with all agencies involved," the governor announced in a post shared on his X account.
