Former NTV prime-time news anchor, Mark Masai has sparked wild reactions on Twitter after revealing that he plans to address the topic of Human Resources (HR) following his exit from Nation Media Group (NMG).

Masai, who was fired after 14 years in what the media house termed as a reorganisation of its operations, stated on Wednesday, December 7 that the conversation is necessary to determine how the HR segment in all workplaces should be reformed to better serve the employees.

He teased that Kenyans should look out for his take on the matter later in the day.

“Let's face it, a conversation needs to be had about HR and how operations can be managed better. Watch this space...Today,” he wrote.

Spot checks on his Twitter account indicated his retweets on a Twitter space to be hosted by Mwango Capital at 8 pm today titled When HR Meets Tech In Africa. The financial media house had earlier publicly invited him for the highly anticipated online conversation.

Meanwhile, Kenyans On Twitter (KOT) urged him to use the opportunity to unleash the hot tea that transpired between him and his employer prior to his exit in a mass firing exercise.

“I am here for the vawulens (violence),” Roy Waite urged, to which Masai responded: “Hapana buana (No, bro) I come in peace.”

“Kenya has been boring, give us drama,” urged Vinnie, a Twitter user but the anchor said he did not like drama.

Masai also indicated that he plans to start a YouTube channel to connect with his fans, highlighting that he would take the same path as former Kiss 100 presenter Adelle Onyango who ventured into digital media following her exit from Radio Africa Group.

Other than a YouTube platform, Masai said he was also working on creating his own podcast.

Masai on Thursday, December 1 shared a video montage of his special moments while anchoring at the station since 2008, while praising the station for putting together a great team to achieve success.

"NTV is a great team! These are different times. Was a great show. Time for short a commercial break. I'll be back!" he wrote.

Masai's statement came after Viral Tea was reliably informed that he was among the senior journalists affected by the mass firings at NMG. Insiders had indicated that he was given the termination letter on his way to reading the previous night's bulletin and was professional until his exit.

"He left the WhatsApp group for NTV. It is bad. He was given the letter on his way to reading last night's bulletin.

"Professional to the core, he read it and didn't show any hint he is leaving," the insider told Viral Tea.

Masai was replaced by Ibrahim Karanja, who made his debut during the NTV at One bulletin on Saturday, December 3, five months after he joined NMG from Standard Media Group (SMG).
