Azimio la Umoja leader Raila Odinga has shared a link to a website which contained what he claims are the actual results of the 2022 August 9 general elections.

The website had shown that Raila won with 8,112,244 votes compared to the 6,929,844 votes as announced by the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC).

It also revealed that he beat President William Ruto who had 5,938,160 votes against the 7,146,574 votes announced by the IEBC.

"We'd like to reiterate that the collated results on this link, kenyaelectionresults.com, leave no room for doubt that Azimio emerged victorious in the last election.

"In light of this, we strongly urge Mr Ruto to vacate his office immediately, ahead of the upcoming #MegaMonday," he wrote on his Twitter account.

The site also showed the polling centres where the vote count was allegedly altered and the difference in the numbers.

However, the website seemed to have encountered problems mainly with regard to its public Internet Protocol (IP) address which was apparently deactivated immediately after Raila shared his numbers.

In particular, Twitter users reported seeing a generated error 500, which is a HyperText Transfer Protocol (HTTP) challenge to a hosting server which looked something like this:

Viral Tea had to refresh the site multiple times to get a working platform, then was met with the same error while trying to refresh it.

It is not clear whether Raila's domain was purposely deactivated or a technical error occurred on the hosting gateway.

The date of the announcement (April 1, 2023) was also suspect given that the world was marking April Fools' Day, whereby several media houses treated their audiences to a surprise, with satirical and humourous articles.

Raila has been calling for the IEBC election servers to be opened for foreign audit for the past six months, claiming that Ruto did not win the elections.

His new claims however differ from similar ones made by Jubilee Secretary General, Jeremiah Kioni, who claimed on Wednesday, January 18 that the former prime minister should have beaten his opponent by 2.3 million votes to be elected Kenya's fifth president.

"We’ve seen that 59% of the constituencies cannot be verified with absolute certainty. What can be verified is, Raila Odinga won the elections with 8,170,355 votes representing 57.53% of the votes cast.

"Ruto got 5,915,973 votes, representing 41.66%," he addressed.

Kioni then alleged that he had gone through a research report by Vanguard Africa, which he stated is a non-profit organization, and found that over 100 constituencies had their results verified and that they were far from those announced by former Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) Chair Wafula Chebukati.

President Ruto was declared the winner with a total vote count of 7,176,141 (50.49 per cent) against Raila with a total of 6,942,930 (48.85 per cent). Since the defeat, Raila has been staging mass protests from Monday, March 20 against the Kenya Kwanza government.
