Former Prime Minister Raila Odinga's Chief Agent, Saitabao Kanchory has now alleged that the system used by the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) during the August 9 general elections was breached.

Speaking outside the Bomas of Kenya on Monday, August 15, Kanchori alleged that they were yet to be handed Form 34C, which will be used by the chairperson, Wafula Chebukati, to declare the winner.

He added that some of the commission's officials had committed offences and some ought to have been arrested.

"We have intelligence reports that their system was penetrated and hacked and that some of the IEBC officials actually committed electoral offences and some of them ought to have been arrested if they were not arrested," he addressed.

"We were not in any position to ask our party leader to come before we actually verify results, which we have not done."

Kanchory added that they did not yet have knowledge about the results that are yet to be released by the commission. By the time of publication, it has been two hours since the results were meant to be announced and Chebukati was nowhere to be seen.

He also claimed that the results were tampered with, even if they go in their favour or not.

"The results that are yet to be released we don't know about them. Whether they favor us or not, those results have been tampered with.

"We are saying we want to see them, once we see them, we want to verify them. Once we verify them, we will be able to know what to tell our people. Because a result that is not verifiable is not a result," he added.

Speaking for the first time since his daring antics at the Bomas of Kenya National Tallying Centre, he touched on the Saturday night, August 13 antics by noting that he actually meant to shout "I want to announce that Bomas of Kenya is a scene of crime," which briefly interrupted chaotic scenes between a section of politicians.

"I think you would remember that I had earlier stated that Bomas of Kenya was a crime scene. And that was way before the results of this election came out. The reason that I said so is because as Kenyans were busy waiting for the outcome of this election, members of this commission led by Chebukati himself were busy tempering and manipulating the results," he said.

Just before Kanchory could continue speaking, a number of media houses who were covering the presser muted the live feed owing to some of the allegations he had labelled against the commission.

Kanchory was accompanied by, among others, Siaya Governor-elect James Orengo, Kisumu governor-elect Anyang' Nyong'o and Rarieda MP-elect, Otiendo Amollo, who all declined to give a comment.

UDA candidate and outgoing Deputy President William Ruto had already arrived at the Bomas of Kenya in the company of his political allies and some of the elected leaders under the Kenya Kwanza coalition.

The chief agent was the highlight of a dramatic scuffle at the Bomas that night, which forced security to be stepped up ahead of the grand announcement.
